Trina Storage, the energy storage arm of Trinasolar, has finalised an agreement for a 50 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Amyntaio, Western Macedonia, Greece. The BESS projects will be supplied on a full turnkey AC basis. It will include DC battery cabinets, power conversion systems (PCS), medium-voltage (MV) skids, and a power plant controller.
The BESS project will utilise 60 Elementa 2 battery cabinets and eight integrated PCS and MV skid enclosures. With this configuration, it will achieve a nameplate capacity of around 244 MWh, exceeding its contracted 200 MWh. Amyntaio will provide grid services such as frequency regulation, renewable integration, and capacity adequacy.
Additionally, the BESS project will be backed by a long-term service agreement covering a 10-year period. This agreement will include maintenance, remote monitoring, spare parts management, and guarantees regarding performance and system availability. Furthermore, it is reportedly one the biggest BESS projects in Greece, and forms part of the company’s broader expansion across Southeastern Europe.
In July 2025, Trina Storage signed a contract to supply the DC side battery solutions including its Elementa 2 battery cabinets, for a 65 MWh BESS project with Allview in Romania. Allview will oversee the AC integration, including the PCS and MV infrastructure, for the project, being developed under the Renovatio initiative.
