The renewable energy transition is one of the most important development transformations of our time. If carefully planned and sustainably managed, renewable energy technologies present unique opportunities to generate positive outcomes – increased access to clean energy, climate change mitigation and restoration of ecosystems and biodiversity. However, without effective governance systems and safeguards, it can also introduce environmental and social challenges and aggravate climate and disaster risks.
This webinar titled “Integrated Renewable Energy Solutions for Addressing Energy, Environment and Climate Challenges” by the Global Dialogue on Environment and Energy, explored how renewable energy development can be sustainably accelerated through integrated policy and planning approaches.
It brought together diverse stakeholders to discuss cross-cutting approaches to land-use planning, water and biodiversity management, and gender-responsive and community-led strategies to promote resilient, inclusive and nature-positive energy development.
