Macquarie Asset Management has announced plans to acquire an additional 39.25 per cent stake in the Lynn and Inner Dowsing offshore wind farms from funds managed by BlackRock, bringing its total ownership to 100 per cent. Lynn and Inner Dowsing are adjacent offshore wind farms situated off the coast of Lincolnshire and have been operational since 2009. The wind farms have a total installed capacity of around 194 MW, producing enough electricity annually to power over 160,000 UK homes.
Furthermore, Macquarie GIG Renewable Energy Fund 2 and Macquarie Asset Management Private Wealth Fund will facilitate this acquisition. Additionally, Macquarie Capital is serving as the sole financial adviser to Macquarie Asset Management. The details of the transaction remain confidential. In 2016, Macquarie’s GIG Renewable Energy Fund 1 initially invested in a 60.75 per cent stake in the wind farms.
In June 2024, Macquarie Asset Management concluded the purchase of 49.9 per cent stake for a consideration of $332 million in Hydro Rein, a subsidiary of Hydro. Furthermore, the investment will be managed by the Macquarie Green Energy and Climate Opportunities Fund, which will finance Hydro Rein’s projects in construction and development.
