Ocean Winds has secured offshore consent from the Scottish Government for its 2 GW Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm. The project forms a part of the Crown Estate Scotland’s ScotWind leasing round. The project comprises the 1 GW Caledonia North and 1 GW Caledonia South wind farms, with up to 140 turbines across a 429 sq km site. Caledonia North will use fixed-bottom foundations, while Caledonia South will combine fixed-bottom and floating foundation technology.
Furthermore, the project is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power the equivalent of two million homes. Offshore construction for the project is expected to commence in 2030, subject to securing a contract for difference and reaching a final investment decision. Ocean Winds has also committed to invest £1.7 billion in Scotland across the two projects.
In July 2026, Ocean Winds achieved full power at its 30 MW Éoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion floating offshore wind farm off the coast of Occitanie in France. The project features three 10 MW turbines mounted on semi-submersible floating foundations. The project is now fully operational and will generate around 110,000 MWh of clean electricity annually.
