Patel Engineering Limited has received a letter of award from Dorjilung Hydro Power Limited for pre-construction works valued at approximately Rs 2.30 billion for the 1,125 MW Dorjilung hydroelectric power project in Bhutan. Dorjilung Hydro Power Limited is a joint venture between Druk Green Power Corporation Limited and Tata Power Company Limited.  

The project, located around 7 km from Autsho town in Mongar Dzongkhag, Bhutan, is being developed under a public-private partnership model. The awarded package I includes civil and hydromechanical works as part of the project scope. Moreover, the package includes installation of four sets of vertical lift fixed wheel gates as part of hydromechanical works. Additionally, the construction period for the contract is set at 300 days, followed by a defects notification period of one year. 

In September 2025, Adani Power and Bhutan’s Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) signed agreements to develop the 570 MW Wangchhu hydroelectric project in Bhutan. The agreements include a shareholders agreement, a concession agreement with the Royal Government of Bhutan, and an initial understanding on the power purchase agreement. The project will be executed on a build-own-operate-transfer basis.
