RES has completed the development phase and has commenced construction of the 168 MW Goose Harbour Lake Wind Farm in Nova Scotia on behalf of Port Hawkesbury Paper Wind Ltd (PHPW). With a total investment of $450 million, the project is slated to begin commercial operations in 2026.
As a co-developer alongside PHPW, RES is now overseeing the full construction process and the installation of 24 cutting-edge Nordex 163 7.0 MW turbines, designed for cold climates and equipped with advanced anti-icing blade technology. The project is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 350,000 tonnes annually.
The wind farm will help to meet Nova Scotia’s energy demands, including those of Port Hawkesbury Paper, while supporting the province’s transition to clean energy. Additionally, through Wskijinu’k Mtmo’taqnuow Agency Ltd., 13 Mi’kmaw First Nations will hold a 10 per cent equity share in the project.
