Vestas has secured an order for the 660 MW Nordseecluster A offshore wind project in Germany from RWE. The project is being built in two phases – Nordseecluster A and B. Vestas will supply 44 V236-15.0 MW wind turbines and will be responsible for the supply, delivery, and commissioning of the turbines for the first phase of the project.
Upon the completion of the project, Vestas will be responsible for maintaining and servicing the wind turbine assets under a 5-year service agreement, followed by an operational support agreement for an additional period.
Furthermore, Nordseecluster B will add an additional 900 MW of wind power capacity. For this, Vestas and RWE currently have a conditional agreement in place for the supply of 60 V236-15.0 MW wind turbines. The delivery of wind turbines for the Nordseecluster A project is anticipated for 2026.
REGlobal’s Views: Vestas had also received another big order in the recent months for an offshore wind project in New York, that time from Equinor. These successive large turbine orders across two important offshore wind markets will help the manufacturer to significantly expand its market share, especially at a time when the offshore wind industry is reviving after supply chain and equipment costs related concerns.
