Rosatom’s Novolakskaya Wind Farm situated in the Republic of Dagestan, Russia has started supplying electricity to the unified power grid following the commissioning of its second phase. The Novolakskaya wind farm is Rosatom’s tenth operational wind farm. The new phase comprises 59 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 147.5 MW. With the completion of the second stage, the wind farm’s total installed capacity has reached 300 MW.
Furthermore, the wind farm currently comprises 120 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2.5 MW. The project is expected to generate an average of 879 million kWh of electricity annually. The Atommash plant in Volgodonsk manufactured hubs, nacelles, generators and cooling systems for 2.5 MW wind turbines, while Rosatom’s Composites Division supplied the blades for the project.
Rosatom has commissioned more than 1.3 GW of wind power capacity across 10 wind farms. The company also plans to expand its operational portfolio to around 2 GW by 2028. Around 85 per cent of the company’s wind power equipment is manufactured in Russia. Rosatom’s Wind Energy Division oversees the entire project lifecycle, from wind farm design and construction to operation and maintenance.
