RWE has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google. The agreement covers the entire output of RWE’s 155 MWac Crooked Creek solar project located in McCurtain county, Oklahoma. Project construction is expected to commence later in 2026, with commercial operations expected in 2028.
Moreover, the project will supply renewable electricity to support Google’s operations in the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) market. Besides the Crooked Creek solar project, RWE operates the 148 MW Boiling Springs wind project and has an additional 1.6 GW of renewable projects under development across Oklahoma.
In July 2026, RWE commenced construction of a battery energy storage system project at the Hambach opencast mine near Niederzier in Germany. The project has an installed capacity of 236 MW/470 MWh. Preparatory work for the project commenced at the end of 2025. The first of 128 lithium-ion battery containers for the project has already been delivered to the project site.
