PNE, a German wind farm developer, announced that it has sold the rights to three wind farm projects in Romania to an unnamed global renewable energy business for an undisclosed amount. PNE stated in a news release that wind turbines with nominal outputs of up to 220 MW might be installed as part of the three projects.

PNE and the investor will collaborate in the project’s future development up to the construction funding decision. The investor will be in charge of the finance, building, and operation of the wind farms. PNE was advised on the transaction by Kreen Ltd.

PNE AG is a renewable energy company that specialises in wind energy. The company’s offshore wind farms are mainly located in the North Sea and its onshore wind farms are spread across Europe, South Africa, the United States, and Canada. In addition to wind energy, PNE AG is also a developer of solar energy, electricity storage, and power-to-gas technologies with a focus on hydrogen. PNE will also focus on the development of photovoltaic projects in Romania. PNE also has ongoing projects such as a 2 GW offshore wind farm in Vietnam. The project has an investment worth $4.8 billion and aims to install 154-166 wind turbines in the province. The technical survey for the project is scheduled to begin in 2021 and it is expected to get commissioned by 2024.
