AIP Management acquires 49.99 per cent stake in solar and storage project in Texas

AIP Management has inked an agreement to acquire a 49.99 per cent equity stake in Pine Forest. This project from Clearway Energy Group consists of a 300 MWac solar photovoltaic system and a 200 MW/400 MWh battery energy storage system. The total investment for the project is around $ 200 million. Furthermore, this project is located in the ERCOT North market region. The project is currently under construction.

CIP partners with GCSS for 2.3 GW BESS projects in Italy

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has entered into a partnership with GC Storage Services (GCSS) for a 2.3 GW pipeline of large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Italy. This partnership was formed using CIP’s flagship fund CI V.  Furthermore, these projects are located across Northern and Southern Italy, with the first project anticipated to be ready-to-build in 2025.The supportive regulatory policies of Italy allow CIP to deliver such projects in the country.

Nofar and Qcells ink agreement for BESS projects in Texas

Nofar USA (Nofar) and Qcells have inked an agreement for the development and construction of two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. These two projects will have a combined capacity of 350 MW and a 2 hour duration. The projects are Bracero Pecan with a capacity of 230 MW/460 MWh situated in Reeves County and Fairway with a capacity of 120 MW/240 MWh in Freestone County. These projects are in the final stages of interconnection approvals.

Zelestra and Abastible have inked a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for the sale of electricity from 100 per cent renewable sources. Akaysha Energy and Gunvor Group ink offtake agreement for BESS project in Australia

Akaysha Energy has inked a long-term offtake agreement with Gunvor Group for its large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) project. The agreement includes a risk-hedging offtake product known as a battery revenue swap agreement which will ensure revenue certainty for the project. The project is currently under construction and is expected to begin operations by 2026. It will be able to charge from excess solar generation and store enough energy to power approximately 200,000 homes for up to two hours.

BYD inks 12.5 GWh energy storage contracts in Saudi Arabia

BYD Energy Storage and Saudi Electricity Company have inked 12.5 GWh of grid-scale energy storage project contracts. This new contract along with a previously delivered 2.6 GWh project combines to a total of 15.1 GWh of projects between the two companies. The battery energy storage system (BESS) equipment for the projects will be deployed across five sites in the country. Furthermore, BYD Energy Storage will supply MC Cube-T ESS that adopt cell-to-system (CTS) super-integrated technology.

Constantine Energy Storage and Habitat Energy partner for 462 MWh BESS projects in UK

Constantine Energy Storage has partnered with Habitat Energy for optimisation of three new transmission-connected battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the UK. The three projects are the Ocker Hill near Birmingham, the Whitegate near Manchester, and the Monk Fryston near Leeds. Furthermore, each of these projects has a capacity of 57 MW and a 2.7 hour battery energy storage system. They have 171 MW/462 MWh of flexible capacity in total. These projects are expected to become operational by the summer of 2025.

Enel North America commences operation of solar plus storage project in Texas

Enel North America has commenced operations of the Estonian solar-plus-storage plant which is situated in Delta County, Texas. This solar plus storage project consists of a 202 MW solar photovoltaic facility along with a 104 MW battery energy storage system. Furthermore, Estonian Solar is supported by a power purchase agreement (PPA) with BXP Inc. and Capri Holdings Limited. The project is expected to generate approximately 499 GWh of clean electricity each year.

Statera acquires 680 MW BESS project in England

Statera Energy has acquired a 680 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project at Trafford Low Carbon Energy Park in Greater Manchester. The project is known as Carrington Storage and is expected to be fully energised in 2026. The project will be over twice the size of Statera’s upcoming 300 MW Thurrock Storage project. Furthermore, Carrington Storage will account for nearly a quarter of the installed energy capacity of the UK’s operational BESS fleet.

O2 partners with US-based Powin for battery storage solutions

O2 Power, a India-based renewable energy producer, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Powin, a USA-based battery energy storage company, to supply battery storage solutions for the Indian renewable energy sector. Powin will reportedly be in charge of battery energy storage system (BESS) delivery and commissioning, while O2 Power would provide full EPC services for the projects they are constructing.
