RWE, a German utility company, has started offshore construction at its 1 GW Sofia offshore wind project on Dogger Bank in the central North Sea, 195 km off the north-east coast of the UK. Prysmian, which is the project’s cable contractor is using its vessel Leonardo da Vinci to lay the first section of high voltage direct current export cable to send the power generated.

Boskalis bags 1.5 GW cable deals in Poland

Boskalis, a Dutch dredging and offshore contractor has won two big contracts for the transportation and installation of the export and array cables for the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in the Polish section of the Baltic Sea. Polish utility PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA and Denmark’s Ørsted A/S gave two deals to the company. Reportedly, the order is valued at over $ 322.5 million.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a loan of $39 million to China Power International Holding (CPIH) to support the construction of a 100 MW wind farm to be built in Kazakhstan. Masdar and Jinko finalised for 1.5 GW of Saudi solar projects

Masdar and Jinko Power have been finalised for the construction of two solar projects in Saudi Arabia with a total capacity of 1.5 GW. Reportedly, the Saudi Power Procurement Company chose the bidders for round 4 solar projects. ACCIONA Energía wins 280 MW Canadian wind farm from RES

ACCIONA Energía, a Spanish renewables developer, has obtained a 280 MW Forty Mile wind farm in Bow Island, Forty Mile County, Alberta, Canada, from Renewable Energy Systems (RES) Canada. On behalf of ACCIONA Energa, RES will continue to work on the project as the contractor for building the remaining portions of the plant. The operation is anticipated to begin in early 2025.

Recurrent Energy obtains financing for 120 MW Oklahoma solar project

Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar has secured financing of $112 million for the 120 MW North Fork solar plant in Oklahoma from NordLB and Rabobank. Together with Rabobank, NordLB served as the coordinating lead and joint lead arranger for the project. Moreover, the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority will buy the solar plant’s power under a 15 year contract.

Statkraft buys 337 MW wind farm portfolio in Germany and France

Statkraft, a Norwegian renewable energy generator, has bought a wind farm portfolio from Breeze Two Energy, which consists of 39 wind farms with a total power-generating capacity of 337 MW, for $443 million. The acquisition broadens Statkraft’s growing portfolio of wind farms, which now includes 35 farms in Germany and four in France. There are 165 turbines with a combined capacity of 310 MW in the German portfolio.

Origis commences 200 MW solar farm construction in New Mexico

Origis Energy, a US renewables platform, has begun working on a 200 MW solar farm at the site of a previous coal-powered plant near Grants, New Mexico. Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, a cooperative engaged in the supply of wholesale electricity, is the beneficiary of the Escalante Solar Project. It will make enough electricity to run around 40,000 households using nearly about 500,000 modules.

RWE partners with Stanwell for 1.8 GW wind projects in Australia

RWE and Stanwell have teamed up to construct two onshore wind farms with a total capacity of 1.8 GW in Queensland Australia. Stanwell will look into energy offtakes and probable equity investment in RWE’s 1.1 GW Theodore wind farm which is under construction near the town of Biloela. A second wind project with 720 MW of capacity is at an initial stage of construction in the southern part of the state.
