Australia awards 7.8 GW of clean energy projects

Australia’s Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy has announced the results of Tender 7 under the Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS). A total of 19 renewable energy projects were selected, delivering 7.8 GW, exceeding the original 5 GW target  of capacity. Of which 8 projects are hybrid systems combining wind or solar generation with battery storage.

Palisade acquires 240 MW Aussie BESS facility from CIP

Palisade Investment Partners, via Intera Renewables, has acquired a 100 per cent interest in the 240 MW/960 MWh Summerfield battery energy storage system (BESS) from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). The facility located east of Adelaide, is currently under construction with a scheduled completion date in late 2026. This acquisition bolsters Palisade’s total renewable energy portfolio to 2.5 GW.

Origin Energy secures transmission rights for 1.5 GW Yanco Delta wind farm in Australia

Origin Energy has reached a significant milestone in the development of its 1.5 GW Yanco Delta wind farm by securing full transmission access rights totalling 1,460 MW from Australian EnergyCo. The latter is the statutory authority responsible for leading the development of the renewable energy zone (REZ) and associated transmission network infrastructure in New South Wales (NSW), Australia. The wind farm is set to be developed on a vast 33,000-hectare site located 10 km north-west of Jerilderie in southern NSW.

Origin buys 1.5 GW wind farm in New South Wales

Origin Energy Limited has struck a deal with Virya Energy to purchase the Yanco Delta Wind Farm, which is a wind and energy storage facility situated in New South Wales. Yanco Delta is positioned within the South West Renewable Energy Zone designated by the New South Wales Government. It comprises a 1.5 GW wind farm and a 800 MWh battery. The project is situated next to key transmission infrastructure.

Origin Energy acquires Walcha Energy in Australia 

Origin Energy has acquired Australian renewable energy provider Walcha Energy in New South Wales, for an unknown sum. Walcha Energy has been working on the Ruby Hills wind and Salisbury solar projects, which have a combined capacity of 1.3 GW. The two projects are located close to Origin’s recently acquired Warrane land.

Brookfield and MidOcean Energy to acquire Origin Energy

Midocean Energy and Brookfield Renewable Partners, along with their institutional partners and investors, have struck a Scheme Implementation Deed with Australian power generator and energy retailer Origin Energy to purchase 100 per cent of its shares. The scheme values Origin at $12.4 billion. After the transaction is complete, Brookfield’s institutional investors and allies GIC and Temasek Holdings will own Origin’s energy markets division.

Origin Energy acquires Yarrabee solar facility in New South Wales

Origin Energy, a leading Australian integrated energy company, has announced the purchase of the Yarrabee Solar Farm in New South Wales (NSW). The first phase of the solar complex, which will be located in NSW’s Riverina district, is expected to have a capacity of 450 MW. Under the planning approval granted by the NSW government in December 2018, this could be upgraded to up to 900 MW.
