BBVA to finance 725 MWp of solar projects by Opdenergy

Opdenergy has closed an underwriting mandate with BBVA for the financing of the development, construction, and commissioning of its portfolio solar projects in Spain, with a total expected installed power of approximately 725 MW for Euro 500 million. Of the total, the energy company indicated that up to Euro 76 million would be allocated to guarantees linked to long-term contracts (PPAs) and up to Euro 20 million to guarantees related to the usual reserve accounts in this type of operation.

Canadian fund Cubico Sustainable Investment closes purchase of KKR’s minority stake in T-Solar

Cubico Sustainable Investment, the fund of Canadian groups PSP and Ontario Teachers, has closed the purchase of KKR’s minority stake in T-Solar in Spanish photovoltaic assets. With this operation, the group closes the acquisition of the company and takes full control in a transaction in which 1.5 billion euros have been disbursed. Cubico reached an agreement with I Squared Capital to take the majority stake on December 15, 2020.

Capital Dynamics acquires a 50 MW solar project from WElink Group in Spain

Capital Dynamics owned Clean Energy Infrastructure (CEI) has acquired a 100 percent equity stake in a 50 MW solar power project in Southern Spain. The 50 MW Puerto Real 2 project has been acquired from WElink Group which is a leading global developer of renewable energy solutions. This is a subsidy-free project and is located near the 133 MW Puerto Real 1 project in the town of Puerto Real in Cadiz province.

Endesa acquires 519 MW of solar projects in Spain

Endesa has announced the acquisition of a 519MW of solar projects from Arena Power in Spain. The deal was executed through its renewable energy wing, Enel Green Power España. The portfolio consists of 11 projects which represent an investment of about $415 million including the price of the acquisition, construction, and start-up. Construction for these projects is set to commence next year with commissioning scheduled for 2024.

Eni expands its Spanish portfolio with the acquisition of three solar projects

Eni and X-Elio have signed an agreement according to which Eni will acquire three of X-Elio’s solar PV projects. These projects are located in Spain and have a total capacity of 140 MW. They are also planning for a larger strategic collaboration as part of which the parties will develop renewable energy projects in Spain, where Eni aims to have 1 GW of renewable energy projects in the next five years.

Spain allocates 3 GW of renewable energy in latest auction

Spain has announced the allocation of about 3 GW of renewable energy capacity in its first renewable energy auction since 2017. The auction was conducted by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and witness the awarding of 2 GW of solar capacity. Additionally, the Ministry also allotted about 1 GW of wind energy under the auction. The winning bidders must complete the solar projects by February 2023 and wind projects by February 2024.

Lightsource BP acquires 1.06 GW of solar projects in Spain

Lightsource BP has announced the acquisition of a portfolio consisting of 1.06 GW of solar projects in Spain from RIC Energy. Additionally, the sales agreement specifies a partnership with RIC Energy to develop solar projects in 14 sites across Madrid, Andalusia, and Castile and Leon. The first batch of projects is projected to reach ready-to-build status by the end of 2021 and be commissioned between 2022 and 2025.

Europe’s total installed solar capacity to cross 250 GW by 2024: SolarPower Europe

After an 11% improvement in demand for solar in 2020, a 23% boost is predicted for Europe in 2021 with annual installations reaching 22.4 GW. This growth will continue into the later years with new annual additions reaching 27.4 GW in 2022. Despite a slight decrease in growth rates in 2023 and 2024, deployments of over 30 GW are expected in both years, with 30.8 GW in 2023 and 35.1 GW in 2024.

Endesa commissions 100 MW of solar projects in Spain

Spanish renewable energy company, Endesa has announced the commissioning of its first solar power plants to be connected to the grid in Seville, Spain. The solar parks, Las Corchas and Los Naranjos were developed by Enel Green Power and are located between the towns of Carmona and La Rinconada. The two projects have a combined capacity of 100 MW and could potentially generate 202 GWh of electricity annually.

Spain announces 19.4 GW renewable capacity auction plan until 2025
