Tata Power and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the COP29 climate conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, to explore financing renewable energy and infrastructure projects valued at $4.25 billion. The projects aim to strengthen India’s renewable energy capacity, enhance power distribution networks, and expand clean energy infrastructure. This collaboration is aligned with India’s objective of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
The MoU covers several significant initiatives, including a 966 MW solar-wind hybrid project, pumped hydro storage solutions, battery storage systems, and capital expenditure for improving Tata Power’s distribution networks. These projects underscore a commitment to a low-carbon and climate-resilient future, supporting India’s transition to sustainable energy solutions.
Furthermore, the partnership highlights inclusivity by integrating gender and climate-responsive actions. It focuses on empowering women through the deployment of green technologies and creating access to green jobs, fostering broader societal benefits alongside environmental goals. This initiative represents a shared vision for sustainable development and a robust renewable energy ecosystem in India.
