Vestas, a Danish wind turbine company, has won a 252 MW wind turbine supply contract in Australia from an unnamed firm. According to the agreement, the Danish company will deliver 42 of its V162-6.2 MW wind turbines from the EnVentus platform in a 6.0 MW operational mode. The supply of wind turbines will be finished by Vestas in the first quarter of 2023, and commissioning will take place in the fourth quarter of 2024. The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for the wind turbines will also be handled by Vestas. In order to maximise the efficiency of the wind turbines, it has also signed a 30-year active output management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.
Another development involves the 216 MW wind turbine order that AES Corporation gave to Vestas for the US project Chevelon Butte Wind Farm Phase II. For the second and last phase of the overall Chevelon Butte Wind Farm, Vestas will provide 48 of its V150-4.5MW wind turbines. In the second quarter of 2023, Chevelon Butte I is anticipated to start operating. The delivery of the first turbines for the Chevelon Butte II wind farm is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2023, with commissioning beginning in early 2024. Additionally, a ten-year AOM 5000 service contract was signed with the Danish company.
In December 2022, Vestas was awarded a contract to supply turbines for the Siikajoki wind project in North Ostrobothnia, Finland. For the Siikajoki project, which is situated about 50 km from Oulu, the company would supply, install, and commission 38 V162-6.2 MW wind turbines. The wind project’s total capacity would be 236 MW.
