Voltalia bags 132 MW solar project in Tunisia

Voltalia has been awarded a 132 MW solar project in the Gabès region of south-east Tunisia by the Tunisian government. Construction of the Wadi solar project is scheduled to begin in 2027, with commissioning planned for 2028. With the addition of the Wadi project, Voltalia’s total solar capacity in Tunisia that is planned to move into the construction phase has reached nearly 400 MW.

Red Willow solar-plus-storage project in Canada receives approval

Westbridge Renewable Energy Corporation has received regulatory approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) for its Red Willow solar and battery energy storage project in Stettler county, Alberta, Canada. The approval includes authorisation for both the power plant and the associated battery energy storage system (BESS), along with a permit and licence for the Birch 1075S substation.

Enlight acquires stake in solar-plus-storage project in Germany

Enlight Renewable Energy Limited has entered into an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Project Jupiter, a large-scale co-located solar and energy storage project in Germany, in partnership with Prime Capital AG, acting through its Prime Green Energy Infrastructure Fund II (PGEIF II). The project is located in Brandenburg and is planned to include up to 150 MWp of solar capacity and 2,000 MWh of energy storage.

European Electricity Review 2026: Report

Wind and solar reached 30% of EU electricity, higher than fossil power (29%) for the first time on record, and up from 20% just five years prior. By 2025 wind and solar generated more power than all fossil sources in 14 of the 27 EU countries. Solar grew in every EU country and accounted for more than a fifth of electricity in Hungary, Cyprus, Greece, Spain and the Netherlands. Coal power fell to a new historic low of 9.2%. Battery deployment accelerated significantly in 2025.

Electric Truck and Bus Market in US: Report

In the third quarter of 2025 (Q3 2025), 116,279 new medium- and heavy-duty vehicles (MHDVs), comprising trucks and buses, were registered in the United States, of which 594 (0.51%) were zero emission. As in the two previous quarters of 2025, the market shrank year-over-year, with 10.5% fewer total registrations compared with Q3 2024. Zero-emission MHDV registrations decreased by 3.6% year-over-year.

FERC issues licence to Goldendale PSP in Washington

Rye Development and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, through its Flagship Fund CI V, have announced that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued a 40-year licence for the Goldendale energy storage project in Washington. Once operational, the closed-loop hydropower pumped storage project (PSP) is designed to store electricity for up to 12 hours and deliver 1,200 MW of on-demand power.

Nextpower Arabia to supply trackers for Bisha solar project

Nextpower Arabia, a joint venture (JV) between Nextpower and Abunayyan Holding, will supply 2.25 GWp of solar tracking systems to Larsen & Toubro for the Bisha solar project in Saudi Arabia. EDP Renewables North America LLC has commenced commercial operations at the Riverstart Solar IV project in Indiana. Located in Randolph county, the project has an installed capacity of 150 MW. EcoCeres inaugurates renewable fuel facility in Malaysia

EcoCeres Inc. has inaugurated a renewable fuels facility in Pasir Gudang, Johor, Malaysia. The plant was commissioned and began operations in October 2025. The facility produces sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) along with hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and renewable naphtha, with a combined maximum production capacity of 420,000 tonnes per year. The plant converts waste and residue inputs into renewable fuels for use across various sectors.

Thor offshore wind farm receives electricity production licence 

The Danish Energy Agency has granted a 30-year electricity production licence to the Thor offshore wind farm. The project has an installed capacity of 1.1 GW, with construction activities for the project progressing as scheduled. Once fully operational in 2027, the wind farm is projected to generate enough renewable electricity to meet the annual demand equivalent of approximately one million Danish households.

Atlas Renewable Energy inks solar PPA in Colombia

World Bank approves financing for Dorjilung hydropower project in Bhutan

The World Bank Group has approved financing for the 1,125 MW Dorjilung hydropower project located on the Kurichhu river in eastern Bhutan.The approved financing package includes a $150 million grant and a $150 million credit from the International Development Association, a $15 million enclave loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development to the Government of Bhutan.

Juniper commissions 100 MWh merchant BESS in India 

Juniper Green Energy Limited (Juniper) has completely commissioned its 100 MWh merchant battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, through its subsidiary, Juniper Green Cosmic Private Limited. Of the total capacity, 60 MWh was commissioned earlier in December 2025. Trial operations have been completed, and approval has been secured from the Northern Regional Load Despatch Centre.
