The Ministerio de Energía or Ministry of Energy of Chile, published the final Planificación Energética de Largo Plazo (PELP) or Long-Term Strategic Planning (PELP) 2023-27 on April 22, 2025, which is in accordance with Articles 83-86 of the Ley General de Servicios Eléctricos (LGSE) or General Law of Electric Services. Spearmint Energy secures over $250 million for BESS projects in Texas

Spearmint Energy has secured over $250 million in financing for two 100 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage systems (BESS). These are the Tierra Seca and Seven Flags projects situated in Del Rio and Laredo, respectively within Texas’s ERCOT power market. Furthermore, this financing includes $59 million in construction-to-term loan facilities provided by Manulife and $95 million in tax equity bridge loan facilities provided by East West Bank.

Sunraycer closes $475 million financing for solar plus storage projects in Texas

Sunraycer Renewables (Sunraycer) has reached the closing of a $475 million project financing facility with MUFG Bank, Ltd., Nomura Securities International, and Norddeutsche Landesbank Girzonentrale. This brings the total amount raised by Sunraycer to $675 million over the last six months. This financing facility is split between a construction-to-term loan and a tax credit bridge loan. TotalEnergies has completed the acquisition of three renewable energy portfolios across Europe, Africa, and Canada. This includes the acquisition of VSB Group and SN Power for projects in Europe and Africa. It also consists deals with RES for acquiring renewable energy projects in Alberta. The acquisition of VSB Group comprises 500 MW installed or under construction capacity and a pipeline of more than 15 GW of solar and wind projects.

Avangrid begins commercial operation of 238 MW solar project in Texas

Avangrid has achieved commercial operations of the True North Solar project. This is a 238 MW solar project situated in Texas, US. The solar project will deliver energy to the Texas Grid. It will also support Meta’s operations, including its upcoming data center facility in Texas.  Furthermore, the True North Solar project represents a $369 million investment in central Texas. Additionally, the project will contribute $40 million in property taxes throughout its lifetime.

DTE Energy invites proposals for 450 MW energy storage projects in Michigan

DTE Energy has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for standalone energy storage projects with a capacity of approximately 450 MW. These projects will support DTE Electric’s CleanVision Integrated Resource Plan and Michigan’s goal of achieving 60 per cent renewable energy by 2030. These projects must be located in Michigan and connected to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) or distribution-level transmission.

Arevon Energy secures $509 million financing for solar projects in Missouri

Arevon Energy has achieved a $509 million financial close for the 430 MW Kelso 1 & 2 solar projects. These projects are located in  Scott County, Missouri. The Kelso Solar facilities will be developed and operated by Arevon Energy. This $509 million financing package consists of a $245 million bridge loan, a $172 million construction loan, and $92 million of credit support.

PJM approves $6 billion transmission expansion plan

The board of managers for Pennsylvania-based PJM Interconnection, on February 25, 2025, approved a set of about $5.9 billion in transmission projects across Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland, to bolster reliability across the grid operator’s footprint. These projects should be in service by 2029, and are in the early stages of development and do not have a firm timeframe yet for permitting, regulatory approvals, and construction.

OCI Energy and Arava Power have formed a joint venture (JV) to develop a 260 MWac solar farm. This project is called SunRoper and is situated in Wharton County, Texas. TMEIC commences operation of solar inverter factory in Texas

TMEIC Corporation Americas which is a subsidiary of TMEIC Corporation (Japan) has commenced production of photovoltaic (PV) inverter manufacturing facility in Waller County, Texas. This is a 144,000 sq ft facility and it started manufacturing utility-scale PV inverters in November 2024. It surpassed the initial production expectations and manufactured over 300 PV inverters by February 5, 2025.

Meta signs four new EAPAs with Zelestra

Meta has expanded its clean energy relationship with Zelestra by signing four new Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreements (EAPAs). These new EAPAs will help support the construction four new solar power projects in Hopkins, Lamar, Lampasas, and Henderson Counties in the US state of Texas. These four projects will have a combined capacity of 720 MWdc.

Verdagy to deploy 320 MW of electrolysers at Petron’s bio-refinery

Petron Scientech and Verdagyand have joined forces for Petron’s biorefinery project. As part of this, Petron Scientech will utilise 320 MW of Verdagy’s eDynamic electrolysers. These will produce over 45 kilo tons per annum (KTA) of green hydrogen for integration into its bio-refinery project. This project will support the production of SAF, renewable diesel, and e-methanol, achieving a carbon reduction of 500 KTA through green hydrogen alone.

US DOE grants $1.66 billion loan to Plug Power

The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Loan Programs Office (LPO) has announced the closing of a $1.66 billion loan guarantee to Plug Power Inc.’s subsidiary, Plug Power Energy Loan Borrower, LLC. This amount includes $1.55 billion in principal and $107 million in capitalised interest. The loan will support the financing of construction of up to six facilities across several states. These facilities will produce clean hydrogen by utilising the company’s electrolyser technology.

Equinor reaches financial close for Empire Wind 1 project in US

Equinor has reached the financial close of its US based Empire Wind 1 project. It has secured a project financing package that exceeds $3 billion. The company acquired the Empire Wind lease area in 2017. Earlier in June 2024, it executed a 25-year Purchase and Sale Agreement (PSA) with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority for the Empire Wind 1 project at a strike price of USD $155.00/MWh.

Longroad Energy and Meta ink PPA for solar project in Texas

Longroad Energy has inked a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Meta for the entire output produced by the solar project 1000 Mile. It is a 300 MWac solar project located in Yoakum County, Texas. The energy produced from this project will be supplied to the southwest power pool grid. It will contribute to meeting the energy needs of Meta’s data center operations.

Walmart and Nexamp collaborate for community solar development in US

Nexamp has announced a partnership with Walmart to establish 31 community solar projects across US. These projects are anticipated to produce over 120 MW (DC) of renewable energy. They will also generate significant savings for local businesses and residential subscribers. This is their second collaboration for community solar development. They earlier collaborated in 2021 for community solar developments in New York.
