Recurrent energises 1,200 MWh storage facility in Arizona

Recurrent Energy has reached commercial operations of the Papago Storage facility. The facility has a capacity of 1,200 MWh and is situated in Maricopa County, Arizona. Furthermore, the project is the first of three Recurrent Energy projects with tolling agreements in place with APS to become operational. Together, the three projects will provide 1,800 MWh of battery storage capacity and 150 MWac of solar generation.

New Jersey launches 2 GW Energy Storage Program

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) has approved phase 1 of the Garden State Energy Storage Program (GSESP). It is a multi-phase program designed to deploy 2,000 MW of energy storage by 2030. The program aims to expand the amount of grid-scale energy storage capacity in New Jersey. Phase 1 of the program will procure at least 1,000 MW of larger projects directly connected to the main power grid through competitive bidding.

rPlus Energies secures financing for Utah solar plus storage project

rPlus Energies has secured the close of tax equity financing commitment with RBC Community Investments and a syndicate of investors. The tax equity financing commitment exceeds $500 million and will support the Green River Energy Center, situated in Emery County, Utah. It is a solar-plus-storage project. The Green River Energy Center includes 400 MWac of solar PV and 400 MWac/1,600 MWh of battery storage.

Waaree Solar Americas inks 586 MW module supply agreement

Waaree Solar Americas, a wholly owned US subsidiary of Waaree Energies Limited, has inked a 586 MW solar module supply agreement with a US-based independent power producer. The project is valued at $176 million. The modules will be manufactured in the company’s facility in Brookshire, Texas, and are scheduled for delivery during the financial year 2026-27 across four projects. The modules will leverage several domestically produced components.

Boralex inks contracts for 450 MW solar projects in New York

Boralex has entered into a renewable energy standard agreement with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Under this agreement, Boralex will procure Tier-1 renewable energy certificates (RECs) from its 250 MW Fort Covington solar project and 200 MW Two Rivers solar project. The projects have a total capacity of 450 MW. The solar projects are situated in New York.

Aypa Power has secured $535 million in debt financing to support the development of its Vidal hybrid renewable energy project, located in San Bernardino County, California. Spearmint Energy has secured over $250 million in financing for two 100 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage systems (BESS). These are the Tierra Seca and Seven Flags projects situated in Del Rio and Laredo, respectively within Texas’s ERCOT power market. Furthermore, this financing includes $59 million in construction-to-term loan facilities provided by Manulife and $95 million in tax equity bridge loan facilities provided by East West Bank.

Sunraycer Renewables (Sunraycer) has reached the closing of a $475 million project financing facility with MUFG Bank, Ltd., Nomura Securities International, and Norddeutsche Landesbank Girzonentrale. This includes the acquisition of VSB Group and SN Power for projects in Europe and Africa. Avangrid has achieved commercial operations of the True North Solar project. This is a 238 MW solar project situated in Texas, US. The solar project will deliver energy to the Texas Grid. It will also support Meta’s operations, including its upcoming data center facility in Texas.  Furthermore, the True North Solar project represents a $369 million investment in central Texas. Additionally, the project will contribute $40 million in property taxes throughout its lifetime.

DTE Energy invites proposals for 450 MW energy storage projects in Michigan

DTE Energy has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for standalone energy storage projects with a capacity of approximately 450 MW. These projects will support DTE Electric’s CleanVision Integrated Resource Plan and Michigan’s goal of achieving 60 per cent renewable energy by 2030. These projects must be located in Michigan and connected to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) or distribution-level transmission.

Arevon Energy has achieved a $509 million financial close for the 430 MW Kelso 1 & 2 solar projects. These projects are located in  Scott County, Missouri. The Kelso Solar facilities will be developed and operated by Arevon Energy. This $509 million financing package consists of a $245 million bridge loan, a $172 million construction loan, and $92 million of credit support.

PJM approves $6 billion transmission expansion plan

The board of managers for Pennsylvania-based PJM Interconnection, on February 25, 2025, approved a set of about $5.9 billion in transmission projects across Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland, to bolster reliability across the grid operator’s footprint. These projects should be in service by 2029, and are in the early stages of development and do not have a firm timeframe yet for permitting, regulatory approvals, and construction.

TMEIC commences operation of solar inverter factory in Texas

TMEIC Corporation Americas which is a subsidiary of TMEIC Corporation (Japan) has commenced production of photovoltaic (PV) inverter manufacturing facility in Waller County, Texas. This is a 144,000 sq ft facility and it started manufacturing utility-scale PV inverters in November 2024. It surpassed the initial production expectations and manufactured over 300 PV inverters by February 5, 2025.
