EWE’s 320 MW hydrogen plant begins construction in Germany

EWE has initiated construction of a 320 MW hydrogen generation facility in Emden, East Frisia, Germany. The civil and structural works have also been contracted to a consortium of construction firms comprising Ludwig Freytag, Gebrüder Neumann and MBN. Production of green hydrogen is expected to commence by the end of 2027, with supply directed to industrial consumers.

HydrogenPro fully acquires Tianjin electrolyser facility in China

HydrogenPro ASA has agreed to acquire the remaining 25 per cent stake in HydrogenPro Tianjin from Tianjin Miaoqing Machinery Equipment Co., bringing its ownership from 75 per cent to full ownership. The transaction is valued at CNY 3 million in cash plus the equipment valued at about CNY 1.8 million. Completion of the transaction remains subject to the relevant approvals from Chinese authorities.

BZI and NRES join forces for green hydrogen project in Malaysia

Bin Zayed International (BZI) and NOVA RE Suria (NRES) have formalised a partnership to develop the PGH2P green hydrogen project in Paka, Terengganu in Malaysia. It is planned as one of Malaysia’s early large-scale green hydrogen projects and will include a 200 MW alkaline electrolysers plant powered through renewable electricity from the grid. The plant is expected to generate nearly 30,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually at full capacity.

Mauritania inks agreement for green hydrogen project

Mauritania has entered into a framework agreement with Möhring Energie Holding GmbH for the development of a large industrial plant aimed at producing green hydrogen and green ammonia. The agreement supports the implementation of Mauritania’s hydrogen programme known as the Hydrogen Code and initiates the NAYRAH project, which is planned to scale up to an electrolysis capacity of 1,000 MW.

Raven SR gets approval for waste-to-hydrogen facility in California

Raven SR has obtained its final air permit and the authority to construct from the Bay Area Air District (BAAD) for a facility in Richmond, California that will convert diverted organic waste into renewable hydrogen using a non-combustion steam/carbon dioxide reforming process. The project will be located at a Republic Service’s closed West Contra Costa Sanitary landfill site and will process up to 99 wet tonnes of organic waste per day.

Shell inks PPAs for REFHYNE 2 hydrogen project in Germany

Shell Energy Europe Limited, a subsidiary of Shell plc, has signed two power purchase agreements (PPAs) in Germany to secure renewable electricity for the REFHYNE 2 hydrogen electrolyser under construction at the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinland. Power from both projects will supply the 100 MW renewable-proton exchange membrane electrolyser when it begins operations in 2027.

Plug Power to supply electrolysers for hydrogen projects in UK

Plug Power has been selected for an equipment supply and long-term service agreement to provide 55 MW of electrolyser capacity for three green hydrogen projects in UK. The order, which is subject to final investment decision (FID), covers 30 MW for the Barrow-in-Furness hydrogen  project in Cumbria, 15 MW for the Trafford green hydrogen project in Greater Manchester, and 10 MW for the Langage green hydrogen project in Plymouth.

Hygreen Energy and GECI join forces for electrolyser manufacturing in Saudi Arabia

Hygreen Energy has announced the establishment of the Middle East Electrolysers Company, a joint venture (JV) company with the Green Electrodes Consortium for Industry (GECI). The JV company will be based in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, and aims to localise manufacturing and deployment of electrolyser systems in the country. The JV is intended to meet rising demand for electrolyser technologies in Saudi Arabia.

Germany and Czech Republic strengthen hydrogen cooperation

Germany and the Czech Republic have agreed to strengthen collaboration on cross-border hydrogen infrastructure through the establishment of a new bilateral working group. The group aims to coordinate on joint projects, particularly focusing on the Czech-German Hydrogen Interconnector (CGHI), which will convert existing natural gas pipelines into hydrogen pipelines to enable bidirectional transport between the two countries.

Ontario announces new round of Hydrogen Innovation Fund

The Government of Ontario has announced a new round of its Hydrogen Innovation Fund (HIF) with an investment of $30 million. This funding doubles the amount allocated in the previous round and aims to support projects that advance hydrogen development to strengthen Ontario’s clean energy economy. The fund is administered by the Independent Electricity System Operator.

EU grants funding to Baltic Sea Hydrogen Collector project 

The European Union (EU) has allocated €15.3 million under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) to support preparatory work for the Baltic Sea Hydrogen Collector (BHC) project. The offshore hydrogen pipeline aims to connect renewable hydrogen markets between Finland and Germany. The allocated funds will be used to conduct preparatory studies, including technical pre-FEED, regulatory and environmental assessments.

Qair secures financing for hydrogen project in France

Qair has secured €55 million in financing to support the pending construction of the Hyd’Occ renewable hydrogen production facility at Port-La Nouvelle in Occitanie, France and five refuelling stations along key regional transport routes. The funding was arranged in partnership with Crédit Agricole and Bpifrance. The first production unit of the Hyd’Occ facility is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2025.

LONGi Hydrogen has signed an equipment supply agreement to deliver one set of its ALK Hi1 electrolyser along with the balance of plant (BoP) for the project for a green hydrogen project in Namibia. Hy2gen secures approval for renewable ammonia project in Norway

Hy2gen Nordic AS, a subsidiary of the global renewable hydrogen producer Hy2gen, has received zoning approval from the municipal council of Sauda, Norway for the Iverson renewable ammonia facility at the Birkeland industrial site. The project includes a 270 MW electrolysis plant powered by hydropower and is designed to supply renewable ammonia to the maritime sector.

ACWA Power has signed a MoU with Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) renewables division for the renewables and grid scope of the Yanbu green ammonia project in Saudi Arabia. The Yanbu project is being developed as a fully integrated hub with captive renewable electricity generation based entirely on solar and wind energy. The MoU outlines cooperation to develop the design, configuration, and performance requirements for both components.

Stargate Hydrogen has signed a MoU with Saudi Arabia’s Research, Development, and Innovation Authority (RDI) to strengthen cooperation in green hydrogen technologies. The agreement was facilitated by Apex Ventures under RDI’s Global Startups Attraction Programme in partnership with the Ministry of Investment. The partnership focuses on multiple areas.
