PGE energises 475 MW BESS projects in Oregon

Portland General Electric (PGE) has completed three utility-scale lithium-ion battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects with a total capacity of 475 MW and over 1.9 GWh of dispatchable energy. The projects, located at key substations in North Portland, Troutdale and Hillsboro, are designed for four-hour operation and can supply electricity to about 300,000 homes during peak demand or supply disruptions.

Energy Vault to supply BESS projects in Michigan

Energy Vault has signed an agreement with Consumers Energy to deliver two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects totalling 75 MW/300 MWh in Michigan. The projects will be located in Iosco and Bay counties. Battery deliveries are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025. Construction will begin in the first quarter of 2026, and commercial operations will commence by the fourth quarter of 2026.

Arevon begins construction on 300 MW BESS project in California

Arevon Energy has commenced construction on the Nighthawk Energy Storage Project in Poway, California. The standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) will have a capacity of 300 MW/1,200 MWh and will support grid reliability by supplying power during peak demand for up to four hours daily. The project is being developed, owned, and operated by Arevon at an estimated cost of $600 million.

Vena Energy inks PPA with SECI for 100 MW under FDRE scheme in India

Eneco and EP NL join forces for 200 MWh battery storage project at Rotterdam port

Eneco and EP NL have joined forces for a large-scale battery project at Enecogen’s Europoort power plant in which both companies have a 50 per cent share. The project will have a 50 MW connection capacity and a 200 MWh energy storage capacity. The battery is to be put into operation in 2027. Minnesota approves over 475 MW of solar and storage projects

The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission has approved two solar projects with a combined capacity of over 475 MW. The projects are the Iron Pine solar project and the Northern Crescent solar project. The Northern Crescent solar project will consist of a BESS system, which will be housed in a 3.2 acre facility using lithium iron phosphate battery technology. The Iron Pine solar project received a site permit for a 325 MW solar energy facility in Pine County.

China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) has launched an auction for 25 GWh of lithium-iron phosphate battery systems. The tender launched by CEEC is structured into three packages totalling 25 GWh. It covers systems with durations of one, two, and four hours. Package one consists of one-hour systems with a capacity of 3 GW/3 GWh. The bids for one-hour systems ranged from CNY 0.673 to CNY 0.89/Wh, with an average bid of CNY 0.7863/Wh.

The facility will enable the company to expand its development portfolio of solar and energy storage assets across US. The facility consists of a $350 million revolving loan and letter of credit facility and a $250 million project letter of credit facility.
