Zelestra and Abastible ink PPA for solar and storage project in Chile

Zelestra and Abastible have inked a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for the sale of electricity from 100 per cent renewable sources. Under this agreement, the companies will utilise a tailor-made energy solution that consists of a 220 MWdc solar PV plant and a 1 GWh battery energy storage system.  Furthermore, this hybrid plant is situated in Tarapacá, Chile, and has already commenced construction.

DTE Energy invites proposals for 450 MW energy storage projects in Michigan

DTE Energy has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for standalone energy storage projects with a capacity of approximately 450 MW. These projects will support DTE Electric’s CleanVision Integrated Resource Plan and Michigan’s goal of achieving 60 per cent renewable energy by 2030. These projects must be located in Michigan and connected to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) or distribution-level transmission.

Quinbrook reaches financial close for the Cleve Hill solar plus storage project

Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners (Quinbrook) has reached financial close of debt financing for Cleve Hill Solar Park (Cleve Hill). This is a solar plus battery storage project currently under construction. The project has a solar capacity of 373 MW and a storage capacity of 150 MW and is expected to commence operations in 2025. Furthermore, the project financing combines a GBP 218.5 million term loan and a GBP 20 million VAT facility.

Ark Energy and Hanwha Energy ink contract for BESS in Australia

Ark Energy has inked a supply contract with Hanwha Energy for its Richmond Valley Solar & BESS project in New South Wales. This contract focuses on manufacturing, delivery, and installation of a lithium iron phosphate battery with a 275 MW power capacity and an energy storage capacity of up to 2,200 MWh over eight hours. Furthermore, under this contract, Hanwha Energy will provide Ark Energy with a complete BESS solution, including batteries and inverters.

Voltalia inks PPA for 526 MW hybrid project in Uzbekistan

Voltalia has inked a power sales agreement for its hybrid project in Uzbekistan. This hybrid project comprises 126 MW of solar energy, 300 MW of wind power, and 100 MW/200 MWh of battery storage. The agreement extends for 25 years for the wind and solar projects and for 15 years for the storage projects.  Furthermore, the construction phase is set to begin in the first quarter of 2026 for solar and storage projects and in the third quarter of 2026 for wind power.

Eku Energy has secured a NSW long duration storage long-term energy service agreement from AEMO Services.  The agreement is for a 100 MW/ 800 MWh Griffith battery energy storage system (BESS) in Yoogali, within the Griffith local government area (LGA) of New South Wales. The project will provide an eight-hour-duration storage capacity to store excess renewable energy and dispatch it during periods of high demand.

Arevon Energy completes $258 million financing for 200 MW BESS project in California

Arevon Energy has completed financing for its 200 MW/ 400 MWh Peregrine energy storage project. Peregrine is a battery energy storage system (BESS) project located in the Barrio Logan community of San Diego, California. Arevon secured a $179 million debt package for the project, which will serve as a bridge to a preferred equity and tax credit transfer takeout. Furthermore, Santander acted as the administrative agent and coordinating lead arranger, along with CoBank and ACB, for the project.

AMEA Power to develop 1500 MWh of BESS projects in Egypt

AMEA Power has inked an agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to develop two standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS). These systems will have a combined capacity of 1500 MWh. As part of this agreement, AMEA Power will construct a 500 MWh station in Benban and a 1000 MWh station in Zafarana. Akaysha Energy and Gunvor Group ink offtake agreement for BESS project in Australia

Akaysha Energy has inked a long-term offtake agreement with Gunvor Group for its large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) project. The agreement includes a risk-hedging offtake product known as a battery revenue swap agreement which will ensure revenue certainty for the project. The project is currently under construction and is expected to begin operations by 2026. It will be able to charge from excess solar generation and store enough energy to power approximately 200,000 homes for up to two hours.

Pacific Green has inked binding documents to sell 100 per cent of its shares in the Limestone Coast North Energy Park to Intera Renewables. This transaction is valued at $ 293 million. The Limestone Coast North Energy Park is a 250 MW/ 500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project located at the Limestone Coast region of South Australia. Furthermore, as part of this transaction, Pacific Green will be retained to manage the project’s construction until it reaches commercial operations.

BYD inks 12.5 GWh energy storage contracts in Saudi Arabia

BYD Energy Storage and Saudi Electricity Company have inked 12.5 GWh of grid-scale energy storage project contracts. This new contract along with a previously delivered 2.6 GWh project combines to a total of 15.1 GWh of projects between the two companies. Constantine Energy Storage and Habitat Energy partner for 462 MWh BESS projects in UK

Constantine Energy Storage has partnered with Habitat Energy for optimisation of three new transmission-connected battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the UK. The three projects are the Ocker Hill near Birmingham, the Whitegate near Manchester, and the Monk Fryston near Leeds. Furthermore, each of these projects has a capacity of 57 MW and a 2.7 hour battery energy storage system. They have 171 MW/462 MWh of flexible capacity in total. These projects are expected to become operational by the summer of 2025.

Hydrostor has secured a $200 million investment for the development of Advanced Compressed Air Energy Storage (A-CAES) projects in Canada and around the world. This investment was secured from Canada Growth Fund (CGF), Goldman Sachs Alternatives, and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments). The investment includes a $150 million convertible note financing commitment from these investors. Additionally, CGF has provided a $50 million convertible development expenditure loan facility.

Enel North America commences operation of solar plus storage project in Texas

Enel North America has commenced operations of the Estonian solar-plus-storage plant which is situated in Delta County, Texas. This solar plus storage project consists of a 202 MW solar photovoltaic facility along with a 104 MW battery energy storage system. Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Copenhagen Infrastructure V (CI V) fund, has commenced construction of the 240 MW/960 MWh Summerfield battery in Australia. This decision follows the financial investment decision made in September 2024. Plenitude to acquire solar and storage plants from EDP Renewables in US

Statera acquires 680 MW BESS project in England

Statera Energy has acquired a 680 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project at Trafford Low Carbon Energy Park in Greater Manchester. The project is known as Carrington Storage and is expected to be fully energised in 2026. The project will be over twice the size of Statera’s upcoming 300 MW Thurrock Storage project. Furthermore, Carrington Storage will account for nearly a quarter of the installed energy capacity of the UK’s operational BESS fleet.
