Jakson plans 6 GW solar manufacturing plant in India

Jakson Engineers Limited is planning to invest over Rs 80 billion to establish a 6 GW integrated solar module, cell and wafer plant at Maksi Phase II, Madhya Pradesh, India. The manufacturing plant will be developed in two phases across a 110-acre site. In Phase I, the manufacturing capacity of  3 GW of solar modules and 3 GW of solar cells will be commissioned with an investment of approximately Rs 20 billion.

ESB and BnM launch solar project in Ireland

The Electricity Supply Board (ESB) and Bord na Móna (BnM) have launched the Timahoe North solar farm in Co Kildare, Ireland. The project has an installed capacity of 108 MWp and has been fully operational since early 2025. The project has been executed with the involvement of contractors and subcontractors like Voltalia, H&MV Engineering, S&G Solar Ltd., and Wills Bros Group.

Qair secures financing for floating solar plant in Seychelles

Qair has obtained a $5.7 million senior debt facility from the Facility for Energy Inclusion. The financing is to support the development, construction, operation, and maintenance of a 5.8 MWp floating solar plant at Providence Lagoon on Mahé Island, Seychelles. The project, known as the Seysun Lagoon floating photovoltaic plant, is part of Seychelles’ national renewable energy roadmap.

Masdar and partners reach financial close for Saudi 2 GW solar project

Masdar, along with GD Power and Korea Electric Power Corporation, has achieved financial close for the 2 GW Al Sadawi solar photovoltaic project in Saudi Arabia. The project has secured financing facilities with eight regional and international lenders, consisting of Standard Chartered Bank, KEXIM, ADCB, BNP Paribas, ADIB, Bank of China, HSBC, and Société Générale.

Silicon Ranch to develop solar project for Meta’s data center 

Silicon Ranch has partnered with Central Electric Power Cooperative (CEPC) to develop a 100 MW solar facility in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. The project will support Meta’s data center in the state and contribute to its renewable energy commitments. Both the solar project and Meta’s data center are scheduled to be operational in 2027. Silicon Ranch will be funding, as well executing the project on a build, own, and operate basis.

Diamond Infrastructure and Third Pillar ink agreement for floating solar in Texas

Diamond Infrastructure Solutions has signed an agreement with Third Pillar Solar, granting access to its Texas reservoir system for the assessment and potential deployment of utility-scale floating solar projects. The collaboration is expected to reach a capacity of up to 500 MW. The projects will utilise unused reservoir surfaces to generate clean energy along with reducing freshwater loss from evaporation.

Sabanci Renewables acquires solar project from OCI Energy

Sabanci Renewables has acquired the Lucky 7 Solar project from OCI Energy. Lucky 7 Solar is a 100 MWac/130 MWdc solar project located in Hopkins County, Texas, within the ERCOT-North market. The project spans about 745 acres and will supply electricity to the grid to support rising demand in the region. It is expected to begin commercial operations in 2027. The project was developed by OCI Energy before the transaction.

US issues news rules for wind and solar tax credits

The US Internal Revenue Service has released new regulations outlining stricter requirements on when construction of wind and solar projects is considered to have begun, for determining whether such projects are subject to the credit termination provisions in line with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The legislation terminates the clean electricity production and investment credits for projects placed in service after December 31, 2027.

Germany auctions 2.27 GW solar projects

Germany’s Federal Network Agency has announced the results of the auction held on 1 July 2025 for ground-mounted solar photovoltaic projects and solar installations on constructions other than buildings or noise barriers. The tendered capacity was 2,266 MW, with the auction being oversubscribed and receiving bids totalling 2,820 MW. Out of a total of 313 bids, 258 were awarded, with a combined capacity of 2,271 MW.

Nextracker bags order for 1.5 GW solar projects in Brazil

Nextracker has secured an order from Casa dos Ventos to supply 1.5 GW of its NX Horizon-XTR all-terrain and NX Horizon solar tracker systems for a portfolio of four new utility-scale solar and solar-wind hybrid projects in Brazil. The projects include Babilônia Sul (117 MW), Babilônia Centro (226 MW), Seriemas (540 MW), and Rio Brilhante (680 MW). This is reportedly Casa dos Ventos’s first utility-scale solar project.

Construction begins at Brunei’s flagship solar project

Brunei has commenced construction of a 30 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in Kampong Belimbing. The project is being developed by Seri Suria Power (B) Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Serikandi Oilfield Services Sdn Bhd, Khazanah Satu Sdn Bhd, and Atlantic Blue Sdn Bhd. It will be located on a remediated landfill site covering 32.29 hectares and is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2026.

Infinity Power inks deal for solar projects in West Africa

Infinity Power has signed concession agreements with the Government of Côte d’Ivoire for two solar photovoltaic projects with a combined capacity of 80 MWac. The projects, located in Touba and Laboa, were awarded under the World Bank’s scaling solar programme through a competitive tender process. The projects will also include the construction of 17 km of transmission lines to integrate the plants into the national grid.

Under this agreement, Emerge will identify and present potential renewable energy project financing opportunities, which EDB will review for possible tailored financing solutions. Emerge is a joint venture between Masdar and EDF Group.

Italy announces €15.9 million solar tender

Pavia Acque Scarl, the integrated water service company of Pavia city, has launched a €15.89 million tender for solar photovoltaic projects. According to the tender guidelines, the scope of the work includes the design, construction, and project financing management of photovoltaic systems. Additionally, it covers the development of remote individual renewable energy self-consumption systems. The concession period is set for 8 years, beginning from the date the first kWh is injected into the grid for each plant under the concession.

Pine Gate and Meta ink PPA for solar project in Texas

Scatec secures financing for solar project in Brazil

Scatec ASA has reached financial close for its 142 MW solar PV plant currently under construction in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The non-recourse project financing includes $27 million from Banco de Nordeste do Brasil, covering 30 per cent of the total estimated capital expenditure of $91 million. The project is expected to achieve commercial operation in the first half of 2026.

IFC and CleanMax join forces to expand C&I solar capacity in Thailand

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has invested approximately $45 million in CleanMax Energy (Thailand) Company Limited, a subsidiary of Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions Private Limited. The investment will support the development of 35 MWp of greenfield solar capacity, refinance 41 MWp of existing operating solar projects, and  boost the country’s commercial and industrial (C&I) solar segment.
