ContourGlobal has commenced construction of the Los Maitenes hybrid renewable energy project in Chile. The project will combine 131 MWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity along with a 90 MW/360 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Furthermore, the project is expected to generate around 220 GWh of clean electricity annually. Project completion is expected by the end of 2027.
The project’s output is also backed by a long-term power purchase agreement covering both daytime and nighttime supply, with additional electricity to be sold into the merchant market. Upon completion of the project, ContourGlobal’s Chilean portfolio will expand to approximately 583 MWp of solar PV and 490 MW/2.9 GWh of BESS capacity, representing more than 1 GW of renewable power generation and energy storage assets.
In July 2026, ContourGlobal signed a long-term power purchase agreement with Tesla for Project Sterling in Arizona. The project features a 450 MWac solar PV and 360 MW/1.4 GWh of four-hour duration battery energy storage system. The project is expected to generate more than 1.1 TWh of electricity annually. The agreement covers approximately 1 TWh of electricity annually, representing about 90 per cent of the project’s output.
