EDF and DP Energy partner for up to 1 GW floating offshore wind

EDF Renewables, the renewable energy subsidiary of the French energy company EDF, has formed a joint venture with DP Energy, an international renewable project developer, to produce up to 1 GW of low-carbon green energy in the Celtic Sea. This is expected to contribute significantly to the Crown Estate’s 4 GW capacity plans in the Celtic Sea.

EDF Renewables to build a large solar plus storage project in Peru

EDF Renewables, the renewable energy subsidiary of French energy company EDF, has been chosen by Peruvian consultant Energy Partners to develop, build, and operate a 100 MW/100 MWh solar-plus-storage project for the city of Iquitos, Peru. Electro Oriente, a local utility, has agreed to a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with EDF Renewables for the project. The facility, according to the French business, will start delivering power in 2026 at a lower cost than diesel.

EDF Renewables and Clean Power Alliance sign PPA for solar-plus-storage project in California

EDF Renewables North America and Clean Power Alliance (CPA) have signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the Desert Quartzite Solar-plus-Storage project. The project entails a 300 MW solar project, with an additional 600 MW battery energy storage system. The project is expected to begin the delivery of clean electricity to the Alliance’s customers across Los Angeles and Ventura counties in February 2024.

Wärtsilä to deliver 100MW of energy storage in England

Wärtsilä, a technology company, will supply Pivot Power, a subsidiary of EDF Renewables, with 100MW / 200MWh of energy storage systems for its next two projects in the West Midlands, England, to support the roll-out of Pivot Power’s revolutionary Energy Superhub concept. Wärtsilä will instal batteries in two locations: Coventry and Sandwell, on the outskirts of Birmingham.

EDF Renewables acquires 280 MW wind project in Australia

EDF Renewables has acquired a wind farm project in the Australian state of Queensland. The project is expected to have a power generating capacity of about 280 MW and also has approval for a battery storage component. The project, named Banana Range wind project has been purchased from Goldwind Australia and Lacour Energy.

EDF and Windvision secure 226 MW of onshore wind capacity in France

EDF Renewables and its partner, Windvision have announced that they have secured a 226MW project in France’s latest auction for onshore wind projects. The wind farm known as the ‘ Mont des Quatre Faux project’ will be located near Rethel, in the Ardennes department of France’s Grand Est region. It will be spread across seven municipalities and will be built at an estimated cost of Euro 250 million. Once running, the project will be equipped to fuel the power needs of around 250,000 people.

EDF Renewables North America completes Desert Harvest 1 and Desert Harvest 2 solar projects

EDF Renewables North America announced the completion and commercial operation of the Desert Harvest 1 (114 MW) and Desert Harvest 2 (100 MW) solar projects. Desert Harvest 1 provides electricity to MCE under a 20 year power purchase agreement (PPA), while Desert Harvest 2 supplies energy and renewable attributes to Southern California Public Power Authority (SCPPA) under a 25 year renewable energy credit (REC) and Index structure contract.
