Saudi Arabia and Türkiye ink renewable energy agreement

Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Türkiye have entered into an intergovernmental agreement covering renewable energy projects. Saudi Electricity Company connects 7.8 GWh BESS project to grid

The state-owned power utility, Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), has completed the grid connection of a 7.8 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project across three sites in south-western Saudi Arabia. These projects comprise three BESS installations of 2.6 GWh each, located in Najran, Khamis Mushait, and Madaya. The BESS project is owned by SEC, with its subsidiary National Grid SA acting as the offtaker.

TotalEnergies commences operations of 112 MW solar project in Saudi Arabia

The consortium consisting of TotalEnergies, Toyota Tsusho, and Altaaqa Renewable Energy has commenced commercial operations of its 112 MW solar project located in Wadi Ad-Dawasir, Saudi Arabia. The facility was constructed by SEPCO, a subsidiary of Power China, and achieved commissioning in July 2025. The generated power is being delivered to the Saudi Power Procurement Company under a power purchase agreement.

Syria inks MoU and PPA for renewable energy projects

The Public Establishment for Transmission and Distribution of Electricity (PE-TDE) of Syria has signed a MoU with the Saudi companies Al-Harfi and Sakalko to develop solar and wind projects. These projects will have a cumulative capacity of up to 500 MW. Additionally, the PE-TDE signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Syrian-Turkish company Syrian-Turkish Energy Company to procure 100 MW of solar power.

BYD inks 12.5 GWh energy storage contracts in Saudi Arabia

This new contract along with a previously delivered 2.6 GWh project combines to a total of 15.1 GWh of projects between the two companies. Saudi Power Procurement Company signs 5.5 GW solar PPAs

The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has inked power purchase agreements (PPAs)  for three solar photovoltaic (PV) projects totaling 5.5 GW in Saudi Arabia. The agreements were signed with a consortium of Acwa Power, Badeel, and Aramco Power. These projects include Haden Solar PV and Al-Muwaih Solar PV, each with a capacity of 2000 MW and located in Makkah Province, as well as Al-Khushaybi PV in Qassim Province, which has a capacity of 1500 MW.
