The European Commission (EC) has approved a €6 billion Italian scheme to support renewable hydrogen production for transport and industry. The hydrogen can be produced both from renewable electricity through electrolysis and from biogenic sources through biological, bio-thermochemical or thermochemical processes. The aid will be provided through two-way contracts for difference.

Topsoe and Hynfra join forces for green ammonia project in Jordan

Topsoe has entered into a front-end engineering and design agreement with Hynfra to develop a green ammonia project in the port of Aqaba, Jordan. Under the agreement, the facility will use Topsoe’s ModuLite™ platform to convert green hydrogen into ammonia. The project is a joint venture between Hynfra and Fidelity Group. It is expected to reach a final investment decision by 2027, and is expected to commence operations in 2030.

IFC to finance renewable powered polysilicon manufacturing facility in Malaysia

International Finance Corporation (IFC) has announced plans to finance OCI Terra Sus Sdn. Bhd.’s manufacturing plant in Malaysia. Under the arrangement, IFC will finance the facility through a loan of approximately $125 million. The manufacturing facility will be powered by clean and renewable energy and will produce raw materials for silicon wafers and semiconductor chips.

Ecoener secures agreements for 200 MW solar plants in Guatemala 

Ecoener has secured two 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) in Guatemala. These agreements pertain to the development of the 140 MWp Cocales and 60 MWp La Hulera solar plants, with both the projects expected to begin commercial operations in 2028. The Cocales project will comprise a 20 MW/80 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), whereas the La Hulera project will include a 10 MW/40 MWh BESS.

Samsung C&T completes off-grid green hydrogen plant in South Korea

Samsung C&T’s Engineering & Construction (E&C) Group has completed an off-grid green hydrogen production facility in Gimcheon, South Korea. The plant generates green hydrogen using entirely renewable energy sourced from an 8.3 MW solar power installation. With a 10 MW water electrolysis system, the facility is capable of producing around 0.6 tonnes of green hydrogen per day, translating to over 230 tonnes annually.

Etem Gestamp and Rezolv Energy ink cross-border VPPA in Bulgaria

Etem Gestamp and Rezolv Energy have entered into a 10-year cross border virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) in Bulgaria. Under this arrangement, Etem Gestamp will procure electricity from Rezolv Energy’s 461 MW VIFOR wind farm, located in Buzău County, Romania, which is nearing commissioning. The agreement represents Rezolv Energy’s seventh PPA across Romania and Bulgaria.

The UK government has introduced rules to step up the drive for clean homegrown power to get the country off dependency on fossil fuel markets in response to the Iran war. The rules aim to ensure the majority of new homes in England will come with solar panels fitted as standard. On March 16, 2026, Brazil’s Federal Government launched the new National Climate Change Plan, a central instrument of the National Policy on Climate Change (PNMC), establishing guidelines and targets to steer greenhouse gas emissions mitigation and climate adaptation efforts in Brazil over the next decade. South Africa’s New Unbundling Model: Delinks grid assets from future TSO

South Africa’s power sector reforms have taken a new turn and are back in the spotlight. The country’s electricity minister, in December 2025, approved the state-owned utility Eskom’s revised unbundling strategy. Linea Energy has secured project financing for its Watertown solar project, a 172 MWdc utility-scale facility located in Sanilac County, Michigan. The financing package comprises a construction-to-term loan, a tax equity bridge loan and a letter of credit facility. Rays Power Infra secures 200 MW RTC renewable project in India

Rays Power Infra Limited will develop a 200 MW round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy project for Indian Railways. The project has been awarded to its subsidiary Bhalki Solar Power, and involves supplying continuous renewable power to Railways Energy Management Corporation Limited. The project is targeted for commissioning by June 2028. The project will be supported by over 1,000 MWh of battery energy storage systems.

McDonald’s and Axpo sign solar PPA in Spain

Axpo and McDonald’s have entered into a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the supply of up to 83 GWh of solar energy annually. The electricity will be sourced from Axpo’s newly developed solar complex located in the municipalities of Villadangos del Páramo and Cimanes del Tejar, in the northwestern province of León. It is a 200 MWp facility consisting of four photovoltaic plants, each with a capacity of 50 MWp.

TotalEnergies has entered into settlement agreements with the US Department of the Interior to relinquish its Carolina Long Bay lease and New York Bight lease, both awarded in 2022, along with its partners. As a result, the company will discontinue the development of offshore wind projects in US. Additionally, under the terms of the agreement, TotalEnergies will recover the lease fees previously paid.

Vestas to develop offshore wind manufacturing facility in UK

Vestas Wind Systems A/S has outlined plans to establish a nacelle and hub manufacturing facility in Scotland, UK. The proposed investment exceeds €250 million and is aimed at supporting rising offshore wind demand across the UK and Europe. The facility is expected to manufacture nacelles and hubs for the V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbine platform. Additionally, Vestas will assess opportunities to co-locate key component suppliers alongside the facility.

PowerX to establish 2 GWh BESS manufacturing facility in Japan

PowerX has announced plans to establish a manufacturing facility, Power Base Hokkaido, in Hokkaido, Japan to expand production of grid-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). The facility will manufacture the Mega Power 2500, a containerised large-scale BESS, with an annual production capacity of 800 units, equivalent to around 2 GWh. The company has finalised agreements for acquiring the land and building for the project.
