Iberdrola to build 245 MW solar plant in Italy

Iberdrola has signed an agreement with IB Vogt for the construction of a 245 MW photovoltaic project in Sicily, to which a further 60 MW could be added, bringing the total to 305 MW. In any case, the initial project has sufficient capacity to cover the needs of more than 140,000 families with emission-free green energy, which is a population similar to that of Catania.

Masdar Arlington Energy commences work on two UK sites

Masdar Arlington Energy, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar, has initiated the construction of two new battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in the UK. Eolus applies for 1 GW offshore wind project in Sweden

Eolus has submitted an application for the 1 GW Blekinge Offshore Wind Farm, located 11 km off the coast of Blekinge in southern Sweden. Up to 70 turbines at this site, which is part of the Karlshamn and Sölvesborg municipalities, can provide up to 4.3 TWh of renewable energy annually. The construction work is scheduled to start in 2027.

Van Oord secures contract offshore wind project in Poland

Van Oord has been contracted for the construction of the Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm, developed by Ørsted and PGE. The wind farm is located 40 kilometres offshore in the Polish area of the Baltic Sea. The company will transport and install 111 extended monopiles, of which 107 will serve as foundations for wind turbines and the other 4 as foundations for offshore substations.

Trina Storage to supply BESS for solar farms in the UK

Trina Storage has secured a deal to provide battery energy storage systems (BESS) for four UK sites operated by Low Carbon. The systems will deliver approximately 190 MWh of total storage capacity, enhancing arbitrage and ancillary services capabilities. Each project will be able to provide its rated power output continuously for a duration of two hours.

Epsilon acquires LFP cathode technology center in Germany

Epsilon Advanced Materials (EAM) finalised the acquisition of a lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) cathode active material technology center in Moosburg, Germany. With the purchase, EAM is poised to make India the first country in Asia outside of China to manufacture LFP cathode materials. EAM is scheduled to break ground on its facility in India in 2024 to build a large-scale customer qualification plant in 2025.

SENS to develop solar project pipeline of up to 1 GW in Poland

Iqony Solar Energy Solutions (SENS), a subsidiary of Germany-based energy company Iqony GmbH, has commenced the development of a planned pipeline of up to 1 GWp in Poland. Reportedly, the first four photovoltaic projects which have been signed have a total output of 355 MWp. The solar parks will be built in the region around Wrocław and in the East of the country.
