Amazon signs agreement with Engie to procure 473 MW renewable energy from wind farm

Amazon has inked a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Engie to secure the 473 MW output of the Moray West offshore wind farm in Scotland. The deal is part of the e-commerce giant’s plan to run all of its operations entirely on renewable energy by 2025. The wind farm, which is slated to begin operations in 2024, will provide enough energy to power 650,000 UK households per year.

Serbia secures $2.18 billion renewables investment commitment from China

China has committed to investing $2.18 billion in Serbia’s mining and energy ministry to support the development of renewable energy projects. On January 26, 2024, Serbian Zijin Copper, a subsidiary of Zijin Mining, and China’s Shanghai Fengling Renewable signed a memorandum of understanding. The agreement outlines plans for a 1.5 GW wind farm, a 500 MW solar plant, and a hydrogen production facility capable of producing 30,000 tonnes per year by 2028.

Ecoener has committed to investing $324 million in the Greek renewables market through its 350 MW portfolio. The company is expanding its portfolio of renewable energy sources through Ecoener Hellas, a subsidiary that was founded in Greece in March 2023. The first administrative licence for the first ten projects Ecoener plans to construct in Greece was recently granted by the government.

Iberdrola to install 150 MW of BESS at solar farms in Spain

Iberdrola plans to add six BESS stations with a combined capacity of 150 MW to boost Spain’s energy storage capacity. The projects will be spread over Castilla y León, Extremadura, Castilla La Mancha, and Andalusia and will help integrate renewable energy into the national grid. Each of the six batteries will have a 50 MWh storage capacity and a 25 MW power output.

WV International to build 900 MW wind farm in Serbia

WV International Ventures, a subsidiary of Netherlands-based WV International, has announced intentions to build a 900 MW wind farm in Serbia’s Novi Sad region. The Autonomous Province of Vojvodina’s provincial government stated that the Samos wind park will be built in the northern Serbian towns of Alibunar and Kovacica, with work expected to be completed in two stages.

Qualitas Energy acquires 96 MW wind project pipeline in Germany

Qualitas Energy, a Spanish renewables investor, has purchased a 96 MW wind energy project pipeline in Germany. Four wind projects are included in the portfolio: two in the Heidekreis district of North Rhine-Westphalia, one in the Uelzen region of Lower Saxony, and one in the Cologne region. The portfolio has the capacity to generate enough electricity to power 64,000 households.

GreenIT, Galileo to build 140 MW of solar PV in Italy

GreenIT, a joint venture between Eni subsidiary Plenitude and CDP Equity, has struck an agreement with Galileo to develop eight solar projects across Italy. The projects, which are spread over three regions in the country’s south, centre, and north, will have a combined capacity of 140 MW. The 2023–2027 Industrial Plan, which GreenIT approved in April 2023, outlines the start of the plants’ operating phase.

This portfolio of solar projects encompasses a capacity of over 1.1 GW, consisting of 760 MW of TracSmarT+ 1V solar trackers in both single-row and dual-row configurations, as well as 358 MW of RackSmarT fixed structures.
