Clearstone seeks permit for 400 MW battery storage project in UK

Clearstone Energy, a UK-based solar and battery energy storage company has seeked planning permission to construct a 400 MW/800 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Devon, UK. It is named as the Junction 27 project. The company intends to secure the planning permit for the pipeline over the next 12 months and implement it between 2027 and 2032.

Cable-laying begins at RWE’s 1.4 GW Sofia offshore wind farm

RWE, a German utility company, has started offshore construction at its 1 GW Sofia offshore wind project on Dogger Bank in the central North Sea, 195 km off the north-east coast of the UK. Prysmian, which is the project’s cable contractor is using its vessel Leonardo da Vinci to lay the first section of high voltage direct current export cable to send the power generated.

Boskalis bags 1.5 GW cable deals in Poland

Boskalis, a Dutch dredging and offshore contractor has won two big contracts for the transportation and installation of the export and array cables for the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in the Polish section of the Baltic Sea. Polish utility PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA and Denmark’s Ørsted A/S gave two deals to the company. Reportedly, the order is valued at over $ 322.5 million.

Statkraft buys 337 MW wind farm portfolio in Germany and France

Statkraft, a Norwegian renewable energy generator, has bought a wind farm portfolio from Breeze Two Energy, which consists of 39 wind farms with a total power-generating capacity of 337 MW, for $443 million. The acquisition broadens Statkraft’s growing portfolio of wind farms, which now includes 35 farms in Germany and four in France. There are 165 turbines with a combined capacity of 310 MW in the German portfolio.

Germany launches 190 MW rooftop solar and 288-MW biomass tenders

The Federal Network Agency of Germany has opened tenders for 190.11 MW of rooftop solar capacity and 287.85 MW of biomass-fired power plants. The bid submission deadline for both auctions is October 2. The maximum bid price for rooftop solar systems is set at $ 0.122 per kWh. This is the final auction round for solar installations on buildings and noise barriers for 2023.

European Energy unveils 65 MW solar plant in Lithuania

European Energy, a Danish renewable energy company, is aiming to set up a 65 MW solar project in the municipality of Anyksciai, Lithuania. The new facility is anticipated to go into operation in fourth quarter, 2023. The project will cover more than 120 acres, with more than 140,000 solar panels, and produce 90,000 MWh yearly. It is anticipated that the project will meet the power requirements of nearly 24,000 homes.

Sunfire bags 100 MW electrolyser order

Sunfire GmbH, a German electrolyser producer has won an order to provide a 100 MW pressurised alkaline electrolyser to an unidentified European refinery. The agreement includes 10 electrolysis technology modules from the company, each with a 10 MW capacity, as well as the power supply units. Equinor unveils its floating offshore wind farm in Norway

Equinor, the Norwegian oil and gas company, recently inaugurated the 88 MW Hywind Tampen floating offshore wind farm in the Norwegian North Sea. The electricity produced will be used to power Equinor’s oil and gas fields.  The wind farm will help the company cut down its oil and gas prices. It is located 140 km from the coast in water depths ranging from 260 to 300 metres and comprises 11 turbines.

TotalEnergies acquires 40 per cent interest in offshore CCS project in Luna

TotalEnergies, a France-based oil and gas company, and CapeOmega AS have announced the signing of an agreement to purchase the 40 per cent participating interest in the carbon dioxide storage exploration permit for the Luna project, ExL004. TotalEnergies will purchase this interest from CapeOmega AS. The said project spans an area of 453 sq km and is situated 120 km west of Bergen.

Hexicon forms JV for floating wind power projects in Greece

The Yeonggwang Project, a 1.2 GW floating wind project off the south-west coast of South Korea, has been the subject of a sale and purchase agreement signed by offshore wind developer Hexicon Korea. According to the agreement, Hexicon Korea will sell its 40 per cent stake in the project to an undisclosed buyer, who will then become the project’s 100 per cent owner and take over its financial management moving forward.

RWE, a German energy company and Hellenic Petroleum Holdings, a Greece-based oil firm have agreed to jointly explore offshore wind opportunities in Greece. Through their respective subsidiaries, RWE Renewables and HELPE Renewables, the companies collaborated to develop, construct, and operate wind farms off the coast of Greece.  The partnership comes as Greece plans to have 2 GW of operational offshore wind capacity by 2030.

Plenitude and HitecVision to expand its Norwegian energy company Vårgrønn

Plenitude (Eni) and HitecVision have signed an agreement to expand their Norwegian renewable energy joint venture (JV), Vårgrønn. Vårgrønn will be transformed into a tangible, full-cycle offshore wind player by the partners.
