Falck Renewables and BlueFloat Energy, two European energy companies, have joined forces to build a 975 MW floating wind farm off the coast of Sardinia. The Tibula Energia project will be located between 25 and 40 km off the island’s north-eastern coast and will include 62 floating wind turbines which will be “almost imperceptible” from the ground.

Iberdrola, a Spanish energy company, has started construction on the 50.5 MW Korytnica II wind farm in Poland. The plant, which is located north of Warsaw in the Mazowieckie region, would increase the company’s onshore wind power capacity in Poland to 163 MW. Vattenfall, Sweden’s state-owned power company, is set to open its Blakliden Fäbodberget onshore wind farm in the municipalities of Sele and Lycksele. Vattenfall owns a 30 per cent stake in the 353 MW wind farm, which is jointly owned by Vattenfall, Vestas, and AIP Management. The German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) has granted Iberdrola, a Spanish electric utility company, approval to build Baltic Eagle, the Baltic Sea’s largest offshore wind farm. Siemens Gamesa has been nominated by Iberdrola’s subsidiary, ScottishPower, to be a conditional preferred supplier for the 3.1GW East Anglia Hub offshore wind complex off the United Kingdom Coast. The offshore wind complex consists of three wind farms namely the 800 MW East Anglia ONE North, the 900 MW East Anglia TWO, and the 1400 MW East Anglia Three. If ScottishPower is successful in the upcoming tender for the wind complex, Siemens Gamesa will supply 200 turbines of 14 MW each.
