Ventient Energy acquires 443 MW of renewable portfolio in Spain

Ventient Energy, a UK-based renewable energy company, has completed the acquisition of a clean energy portfolio in Spain totalling 443 MW. Regulatory officials authorised the merger in April 2022 after it was first announced in December 2021. The portfolio includes 203 MW of onshore wind and 240 MW of solar capacity, and it is located in the Spanish province of Castilla y Leon.

RWE selects Thorsminde port as O&M base for Danish wind farm

RWE, a German energy company, has selected Port of Thorsminde to conduct the operation and maintenance (O&M) on its Thor offshore wind farm. Under the agreement, RWE has signed a letter of intent with the Port of Thorsminde to use the port for the next 30 years. RWE stated that the port provides the shortest sea and air approaches to the Thor offshore wind farm.

Nel launches MC250 and MC500 containerised large-scale PEM electrolysers

Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser, a subsidiary of Nel ASA has launched the MC250 and MC500 containerised polymer electrolyte membrane electrolysers. The containerised MC250 and MC500 will be delivered as standard 1.25 MW and 2.5 MW (246 and 492 Nm3/h) configurations respectively. The new products are integrating Nel’s newly developed 1.25 MW PEM cell stack, allowing for higher capacities per unit and lower cost.

Total and GIG secures seabed lease for 1.5 GW offshore wind project

The joint venture between Total and the Green Investment Group has secured rights for a seabed lease for offshore wind development off the United Kingdom Coast. The lease is valid for projects that are located off the UK’s East Anglian coast and will have an installed capacity of 1.5 GW. The project was awarded in the fourth round of offshore wind lease auctions by the UK and represents the largest European offshore wind development in the joint venture’s portfolio.

Iberdrola nominates Seimens Gamesa for 3.1 GW of offshore wind farms in the UK

Siemens Gamesa has been nominated by Iberdrola’s subsidiary, ScottishPower, to be a conditional preferred supplier for the 3.1GW East Anglia Hub offshore wind complex off the United Kingdom Coast. The offshore wind complex consists of three wind farms namely the 800 MW East Anglia ONE North, the 900 MW East Anglia TWO, and the 1400 MW East Anglia Three. If ScottishPower is successful in the upcoming tender for the wind complex, Siemens Gamesa will supply 200 turbines of 14 MW each.

Northland Power acquires 49 per cent stake in Baltic power offshore wind project in Poland

Northland Power Inc. has signed an agreement with PKN ORLEN S.A. acquiring a share of 49 per cent, subject to regulatory approvals, in the Baltic Power offshore wind project in the Baltic Sea with a cumulative offshore wind capacity of up to 1.2 GW. The Baltic Power project is already under development and is located about 23 km off the coast of Poland.

Iberdrola to supply solar power to Danone through the Francisco Pizarro project

Iberdrola, a Spanish power developer has signed a long-term power purchase agreement with Danone, a French food company. As per the ten-year agreement, Iberdrola will supply of 73 GWh of power annually from the Francisco Pizarro plant. With this agreement, the entirety of the renewable electricity used in Danone’s plants and factories in Spain will come from this solar project.

TenneT to invite bids for development of grid network for offshore wind projects in Germany and Netherlands

Dutch transmission systems operator, TenneT has announced that it will launch tenders for the development of grid connections with a transmission capacity of 2 GW. The project will ensure supporting infrastructure for the upcoming offshore wind projects in Europe. Under the first tender, transmission infrastructure for at least two projects will be developed in the Ijmuiden Ver wind area in the Netherlands which will be operational in 2028 and 2029. The following tenders will cover the BalWin 1 which will be operational in 2029 and also the BalWin 2 and BalWin 3 which will be operational by 2030.

Eneco and European Energy form a joint venture for Denmark offshore wind tender

Dutch energy company Eneco and Danish European Energy have formed a new joint venture called Swan Wind. The two companies had joined forces so as to submit a proposal for the Thor offshore wind farm tender and Danish Energy Agency has recently qualified this joint venture for the said tender. Thor offshore wind farm is one of the two large offshore wind farms to be built in Denmark before 2030.

Engie and Neoen propose 1 GW solar plus storage project in France

French energy giant Engie and ndependent power producer Neoen have announced plans to develop Europe’s largest solar-plus-storage plant . The project, “Horizeo” will have a installed capacity of 1 GW and include a green hydrogen production unit, an agrivoltaic plant, and a data center. It is estimated to cost Euro 1 billion and will be managed by French energy regulator CRE.
