500 MW South Korean offshore wind project secures offtakers

Taean Wind Power, a joint venture between Vena Energy and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), has signed two power purchase agreements (PPAs) totalling 500 MW with Korea West Power and Gangneung Eco Power. The PPAs cover 300 MW with Korea West Power and 200 MW with Gangneung Eco Power. These contracts secure long-term offtake for electricity generated by the Taean offshore wind project.

ERG inks PPAs for 1.2 TWh of clean energy

ERG, through its subsidiary ERG Power Generation, has entered into three power purchase agreements (PPAs) with FS Group’s subsidiary, the railway infrastructure operator Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), for the supply of 1.2 TWh of renewable energy (185 GWh annually). Supply is scheduled to begin on October 1, 2025. The power will be sourced from ERG’s wind farms located in Italy that are not part of the incentive system.

JERA Nex bp and EnBW get consent for UK offshore wind project

The UK government has approved the Morgan Generation offshore wind farm, located in the Irish Sea. The project will have a generational capacity of 1,500 MW. It was developed by JERA Nex bp and EnBW. Once operational, the project is expected to supply electricity to about 1.5 million households annually. Moreover, the project is reportedly the second offshore wind project from the UK’s Round 4 leasing round to receive consent.

The 600 MW Monsoon wind power project in southern Lao PDR has commenced full commercial operations. Construction and full grid connection were completed within 27 months, four months ahead of the schedule. The project has 133 wind turbines installed, and is located across the Dak Cheung District in Sekong Province and the Sanxay District in Attapeu Province.

US BOEM halts construction of Revolution Wind offshore project 

The US Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has directed Revolution Wind LLC, a joint venture of Ørsted and Global Infrastructure Partners’ Skyborn Renewables, to stop activities on the outer continental shelf related to the Revolution Wind project. Revolution Wind has begun implementing the order. At present, the project is about 80 per cent complete.

Yunlin offshore wind farm begins commercial operations in Taiwan

The Yunlin offshore wind farm of the Yunneng Wind Power Co. Ltd. has started commercial operations with an installed capacity of 640 MW. The project comprises 80 wind turbine generators. It is located in the Taiwan Strait, 8 to 17 km off the west coast. The wind farm has obtained the required electricity business licences, complied with regulatory requirements, and met contractual obligations under its financing agreement.

US initiates security probe on wind turbine imports

The US Department of Commerce has launched a national security investigation into imports of wind turbines and their components under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962. The investigation was initiated on August 13, 2025, and is intended to assess the impact of such imports on the country’s security. India cancels two offshore wind tenders

Atmos Renewables acquires 316 MW Australian wind farm from Neoen

Atmos Renewables has acquired a majority stake in the 316 MW Hornsdale wind farm in South Australia from Neoen.The company previously held minority interests across the three stages of the project and will assume full ownership and control following the transaction. Reportedly, the settlement is expected in the latter half of 2025, subject to customary conditions precedent. The wind farm has been operational since 2017.

Vestas bags 274 MW wind order in Canada

Vestas has received a 274 MW order from EDF Power Solutions North America for the Madawaska wind project in Québec, Canada. The order includes the supply of 25 EnVentus V162-6.0 MW wind turbines and 20 EnVentus V162-6.2 MW wind turbines. Furthermore, the agreement covers a 10-year active output management 5000 service contract. Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with commissioning scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027.
