Western Australia’s 26-GW green hydrogen project edges forward

Australia has given Major Project Status to the Asian Renewable Energy Hub, which it said will include “the world’s largest wind and solar electricity plant,” producing green hydrogen and ammonia. It has granted environmental approval for the first 15 GW stage of the renewable energy hub focused on green hydrogen production that could eventually reach 26 GW of solar and wind generation. This 15 GW capacity includes 5 GW of solar generation and 10 GW of wind.

Western Australia invites proposals for a 1.5 GW wind and solar hydrogen hub

The government of Western Australia has issued a call for expressions of interest to develop a massive 1.5 GW renewable energy hydrogen hub in the Oakajee Strategic Industrial Area. The aim of the project is to produce renewable hydrogen for Australian domestic use as well as export. The last date for submission of proposals is December 24, 2020.

Energy giant AGL unveils plans for a mega storage project in Australia

AGL has announced that it has lodged a scoping report with the New South Wales Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) for a grid-scale battery system at its Liddell Power Station site. The Liddell Battery project is part of the company’s target to develop 850 MW multi-site integrated battery systems by FY24.
