Duke Energy and Firestone Walker Brewing Company have completed one of the largest on-site solar arrays in the craft beer industry: a 2.1 MW solar array and 281 kWsolar carport on 9.7 acres in Paso Robles, Calif. REC Solar designed and built the solar project, and Duke Energy Renewables provided Firestone Walker financing through a 25-year power purchase agreement.

The project, “Horizeo” will have a installed capacity of 1 GW and include a green hydrogen production unit, an agrivoltaic plant, and a data center. Europe’s total installed solar capacity to cross 250 GW by 2024: SolarPower Europe

After an 11% improvement in demand for solar in 2020, a 23% boost is predicted for Europe in 2021 with annual installations reaching 22.4 GW. This growth will continue into the later years with new annual additions reaching 27.4 GW in 2022. Despite a slight decrease in growth rates in 2023 and 2024, deployments of over 30 GW are expected in both years, with 30.8 GW in 2023 and 35.1 GW in 2024.

Seven bidders emerge as winners in Israel’s 608 MW solar auction

Israel’s Electricity Authority has announced the results of its 608.95 MW solar auction. Seven bidders have been awarded projects in the country’s second solar tender with the power supply tariff set at 0.1745 Israeli Shekel (~$0.054)/kWh for all projects. This was the lowest quoted tariff in the bid which is now applicable for all winning projects and was determined using the uniform price method.

Morocco opens tender for 400 MW of solar projects

The Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN) has opened a new tender (expiring on January 31, 2021) for six new solar energy projects with a cumulative capacity of 400 MW. According to the MASEN, the solar photovoltaic plants will be located across the country near Sidi Bennour, Kalaa Sraghna, Taroudant, Bejaad, El Hajeb and Ain Beni Mathar.

Endesa commissions 100 MW of solar projects in Spain

Spanish renewable energy company, Endesa has announced the commissioning of its first solar power plants to be connected to the grid in Seville, Spain. The solar parks, Las Corchas and Los Naranjos were developed by Enel Green Power and are located between the towns of Carmona and La Rinconada. The two projects have a combined capacity of 100 MW and could potentially generate 202 GWh of electricity annually.

Hannon Armstrong Sustainable Infrastructure Capital Inc. has announced a preferred equity investment in about 1.6 GW onshore wind and utility-scale solar portfolio which was developed and operated by the Clearway Energy Group in the United States. The portfolio includes 974 MW of onshore wind, 192 MW of solar capacity, and 557 MW of utility-scale solar combined with 395 MW of co-located storage.

Poland allocates 1.7 GW of wind and solar capacities

In the latest auction conducted by Poland’s Energy Regulatory Office, 800 MW of solar and 900 MW of wind capacities were allocated. The ERO had received 127 bids which included 64 bids for wind projects and 63 bids for solar projects. 96 bids submitted by 70 renewable energy developers were selected and a total of 46.3 TWh of capacity worth $3.83 billion was sold in the auction.
