Sembcorp acquires wind assets in China and India

Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp) has signed two separate agreements to acquire a total of 428 MW of wind assets in China and India. Sembcorp’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Sembcorp Energy (Shanghai) Holding Co Ltd, has signed an agreement with Envision Energy Co Ltd to acquire 100 per cent of the share capital in Qinzhou Yuanneng Wind Power Co. Ltd, (Qinzhou Yuanneng) for an equity consideration of approximately $130 million.

Statera Energy obtains £300 million debt financing for Thurrock energy storage and flexible generation project

Statera Energy, a UK based energy storage and flexible generation developer and operator, has secured up to £300 million of debt financing through a syndicate led by Lloyds Bank. The first £144 million phase of the financing will be used to deliver Statera’s 300 MW (600 MWh) Thurrock Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

European Energy divests two solar projects to Sosteneo

European Energy, a Danish renewable energy company has divested two solar farm projects to Sosteneo SGR in Italy. The total capacity of these renewable energy projects is 231 MW, and both are situated in Sicily. The first agreement, concerning a 68 MW solar farm in Ramacca covering an area of 135 hectares, was closed in September 2023.

Grenergy announces €2.6 billion investment plans

Grenergy has unveiled its growth plans, closely linked to its strategic commitment to energy storage, which is key to advancing the decarbonisation of the energy system for a green and sustainable future. As part of the event, the company announced an investment of €2.6 billion until 2026. Of the total, €1.5 billion will be allocated to the development of its portfolio of photovoltaic projects and €800 million to boost battery storage.

Statkraft acquires Enerfin from Elecnor Group

Statkraft has concluded an agreement for the purchase of Enerfin, a Spanish renewable energy company. The transaction has an estimated enterprise value of €1.8 billion, including equity and debt, subject to customary adjustments at completion. Furthermore, Enerfin’s renewable energy platform includes 1.5 GW in operation and under construction.

Pontegadea takes 49 per cent stake in Repsol’s renewable portfolio

Repsol has initiated a new alliance with Pontegadea incorporating it as a partner, with a 49 per cent stake, in a portfolio of 618 MW of renewable assets for €363 million. Furthermore, this portfolio of assets is made up of twelve wind farms located in Huesca, Zaragoza, and Teruel (the region of Aragon), and Valladolid (Castile and Leon), with a total installed capacity of 398 MW, as well as two PV solar plants, located in Albacete (Castile-La Mancha) and Cadiz (Andalusia), with 220 MW.

Monarch Energy, a California-based green hydrogen project developer, and LS Power have formed a partnership to deploy a portfolio of green hydrogen projects throughout the US. Amprion and Statnett have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the feasibility of a hybrid interconnector for offshore wind between the two countries. The goal of the partnership is to jointly evaluate technical and economical aspects. This can reinforce security of supply in Europe and contribute to the development of the offshore grid in the North Sea as well as to the EU’s climate targets.​

World Bank commits $200 million to boost renewable energy uptake in India

The World Bank has signed a $200 million project with the government of India and the government of Himachal Pradesh to facilitate power sector reforms and increase the share of renewable energy in Himachal Pradesh’s electricity generation. CIP selects pre-FEED contractors for Murchison green ammonia project in Western Australia

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) on behalf of Murchison Hydrogen Renewables Pty Ltd has selected thyssenkrupp Uhde, in partnership with DL E&C and its affiliate CARBONCO to provide a pre-FEED to assist the development of the giga-watt-scale Murchison green ammonia project in Kalbarri, Western Australia. The initiative will produce green hydrogen and green ammonia using onshore wind and solar energy.

EDF renewables completes 275 MW Nevada solar plus storage project

EDF Renewables North America, NV Energy, McCarthy Building Companies, and the Moapa Band of Paiute Indians recognised the completion of the Arrow Canyon solar plus storage project. The project, constructed by EDF Renewables, began construction in September 2021, with the solar portion completed in December 2022 and the storage portion completed in November 2023.
