Aream and Eiffel to set up 500 MW solar projects in Germany

Aream Group and Eiffel Investment Group, through Eiffel Transition Infrastructure, have collaborated to establish Aream Solar Ventures. This collaboration aims to cultivate a series of photovoltaic (PV) and battery projects in the upcoming years. As per the agreement, Eiffel will primarily finance the joint venture’s future development costs and buy a 49 per cent stake in the portfolio from Aream. Meanwhile, Aream will be responsible for the development activities.

SSE Renewables buys Derrymeen BESS in Ireland

SSE Renewables has purchased a fully approved 100 MW / 200 MWh battery storage project near Dungannon, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, from Heron Energy, a division of Heron Group. Pending a final investment decision by SSE Renewables, the project, ready for construction, will be built on an undeveloped area situated outside Coalisland, roughly five miles away from Dungannon.

Landinfra and Eiffel announce 1,800 MW renewables projects in Sweden

Landinfra Energy AB and Eiffel Investment Group have finalised a collaboration to develop a pipeline of up to 1,800 MW renewable energy projects in Sweden. These projects encompass solar power, wind power, and energy storage. TotalEnergies launches new battery storage project in Belgium

TotalEnergies has announced the building of a new battery storage facility in Belgium. The project operations are slated to begin by the end of 2025. The project will be situated at the TotalEnergies depot in Feluy, Belgium, and will have a 75 MWh capacity with a 25 MW power rating. The project announcement comes just a year after we the Antwerp storage project began, which is estimated to be operational by the end of the year.

RWE completes Norfolk offshore wind zone purchase

RWE AG, a German energy group, has finalised the purchase of the 4.2 GW Norfolk offshore wind zone portfolio in the UK from Swedish utility Vattenfall AB. The three 1.4 GW fully consented projects in the Norfolk zone are Norfolk Vanguard West, Norfolk Vanguard East, and Norfolk Boreas, all of which are situated off the coast of Norfolk in East Anglia. All of Vattenfall’s team in Norfolk will also join RWE as part of the agreement, which was announced at the end of 2023.

Energa Wytwarzanie, an Orlen Group affiliate, and Northland Power have launched Baltic Offshore Service Solution, a new firm that will deliver offshore wind services in Poland. Netherlands floats a tender for 4 GW offshore wind projects

The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, through Netherlands Enterprise Agency, has initiated a 4 GW offshore wind tender which aims to award two permits in early 2024, dividing them between plot Alpha (2 GW) and plot Beta (2 GW). Future plans involve adding another plot, eventually increasing the total capacity to 6 GW. These designated areas are part of the IJmuiden Ver wind farm zone in the North Sea. The deadline for bid submissions is March 28, 2024.

Masdar acquires 49 per cent stake in 3 GW UK offshore wind project

Masdar has completed its acquisition of a 49 percent shareholding in RWE’s 3 GW Dogger Bank South project. This is part of a planned £11 billion investment in UK’s renewables sector. It builds on the £10 billion UAE-UK Sovereign Investment Partnership to invest in technology, infrastructure and the energy transition. RWE, which will have a 51 percent stake in the project will be in charge of development, construction and operation of the projects throughout its lifecycle.

Oulu Energy to build hydrogen plant in Finland

Oulu Energy is planning to build a 100 MW hydrogen production plant in Oulu, northern Finland. After completion, the plant would be a natural part of Oulu Energy’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. The partner for the project planning is Finnish P2X Solutions, which is currently constructing a hydrogen production plant in Harjavalta, western Finland.
