bp to develop 240 MW solar project in Azerbaijan

bp, along with its partners has entered into a series of agreements in Azerbaijan. The agreements include final investment decisions (FID) for the development of the Shah Deniz Compression project, the Shafag solar, and the Sangachal terminal electrification projects. The Shafag solar project has a capacity of 240 MW. The renewable electricity generated by the solar project in Azerbaijan’s Jabrayil district will be supplied to the grid operator AzerEnerji.

TotalEnergies has acquired a pipeline of 8 solar projects with a capacity of 350 MW and 2 battery storage projects with a capacity of 85 MW from Low Carbon. Avangrid achieves commercial operations of the 202 MWdc solar project in Ohio

Avangrid has achieved commercial operations of the Powell Creek Solar project in Putnam County, Ohio. The project has a capacity of 202 MWdc (150 MWac) and is capable of generating electricity to power the equivalent of 30,000 homes annually. The project consists of over 300,000 solar panels and reached commercial operation in April. Furthermore, the project is anticipated to contribute an estimated $31 million to local taxing jurisdictions over its lifetime.

The project is valued at $176 million. Solar dominated new electric generating capacity added to the US. grid in 2024, accounting for two-thirds of all new capacity. This is the fourth consecutive year that solar was the leading source of new electric generating capacity. In 2024, Mexico’s solar PV market installed 1.6 GW, a 3% decrease compared to the 1.65 GW added in 2023 but a 37% increase over the 1.18 GW added in 2022. Total operating capacity in the country reached 12.6 GW, which constitutes a growth of 15% from 2023.

Arevon Energy has secured a $98 million tax equity commitment for its Ratts 1 and Heirloom solar projects. The tax equity commitment has been secured from Fifth Third Bank. The projects will add 265 MW of new domestic energy to Pike County, Indiana. Ratts 1 solar project has a capacity of 192 MWdc, and the Heirloom solar project has a capacity of 73 MWdc. Grenergy has inked a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with a global energy company in Chile. The agreement stipulates the sale of 390 GWh of solar energy annually through a daytime PPA.
