Acwa to develop 5 GW renewable energy projects in Türkiye

Acwa has signed an investment agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye under the 5 GW intergovernmental renewable energy programme. Under the agreement, Acwa will be responsible for developing, financing, constructing, commissioning, and operating the projects. The agreements cover the development of five renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 5 GW.

Alpiq acquires 535 MW Navaleo Pumped Storage Project in Spain

Alpiq has acquired the Navaleo hydro pumped storage project (PSP) in Castilla y León, Spain. The project was developed by Erbienergía and is currently at an advanced stage, with commercial operations planned for the early 2030s. The project is expected to provide 535 MW of flexible capacity to the Spanish grid, supporting system stability and enabling higher renewable energy integration.

RWE and Vestas ink wind turbine deal for Vanguard West project in UK

RWE has entered into an agreement with Vestas for the supply of offshore wind turbines for the Vanguard West project in UK. Under the agreement, Vestas will supply, deliver, and commission 92 of V236-15.0 MW offshore turbines. The contract follows the project securing a Contract for Difference in Allocation Round 7 and the establishment of a partnership between RWE and KKR to jointly develop the Vanguard projects.

Germany awards 2.34 GW solar projects

The Federal Network Agency has announced the results of the auction that closed on December 1, 2025, for ground-mounted solar projects and solar projects on structures that are neither buildings nor noise barriers. The auction was oversubscribed, with 634 bids submitted for a total capacity of 5,247 MW against a tendered volume of 2,328 MW. Out of these, 262 bids amounting to 2,341 MW were awarded.

UK auctions 4.9 GW solar and 1.3 GW onshore wind projects

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero of UK has announced the results of a clean energy auction, spanning solar, onshore wind, and tidal projects. Around 4.9 GW of solar capacity was awarded across 157 projects, 1.3 GW of onshore wind from 28 projects, and 20.9 MW of tidal capacity from four projects. The tariffs for onshore wind capacity was £72.24 per MWh, while the tariff for solar projects was £65.23 per MWh.

CIP to acquire Ørsted’s European onshore renewable portfolio

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, through its fifth flagship fund Copenhagen Infrastructure V (CI V), has reached an agreement to acquire Ørsted’s European onshore renewable energy business. The transaction covers more than 800 MW of renewable capacity, consisting of 578 MW operational and 248 MW under construction project, along with a multi-GW development pipeline.

Océalia and TSE join forces for agri-PV projects in France

Océalia Cooperative Group and TSE have entered into a partnership to jointly develop agriphotovoltaic (agri-PV) projects across the cooperative’s operating territory in France. As per the agreement, the companies plan to deploy a total installed capacity of 500 MWp of agri-PV projects over a ten-year period. The portfolio is expected to generate electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of nearly 120,000 households.

OMV secures funding for green hydrogen plant in Austria 

OMV and Austria Wirtschaftsservice GmbH have entered into a funding agreement to support the construction of a green hydrogen plant in Bruck an der Leitha, Lower Austria. The agreement provides production funding of up to about €123 million for the planned project. The proposal had earlier received a positive assessment and funding recommendation from the European Hydrogen Bank.

Spain approves subsidies for 1 GW of pumped storage projects

Spain’s Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has approved a second round of subsidies for innovative hydroelectric pumped storage projects (PSP), with a total allocation of about €90 million. The call is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience plan and is expected to support close to 1,000 MW of new installed capacity with 7 GWh of storage capacity.

Topsoe inaugurates SOEC manufacturing facility in Denmark

Topsoe has inaugurated a solid oxide electrolyser cell (SOEC) manufacturing facility in Herning, Denmark. The facility, spanning 23,000 square metres, will produce high-efficiency electrolysis stacks for industrial-scale green hydrogen production, which can be converted into ammonia and methanol. It has an initial annual production capacity of 500 MW, with provisions for future expansion.

Apple to add 650 MW of renewable capacity across Europe

Apple is expanding its renewable energy portfolio across Europe with the development of new large-scale solar and wind projects in Greece, Italy, Latvia, Poland, and Romania. Together with the solar project in Spain that commenced operations earlier in 2025, these projects will collectively add 650 MW of renewable energy capacity to regional power grids. Qair secures financing for hydrogen project in France

Qair has secured €55 million in financing to support the pending construction of the Hyd’Occ renewable hydrogen production facility at Port-La Nouvelle in Occitanie, France and five refuelling stations along key regional transport routes. The funding was arranged in partnership with Crédit Agricole and Bpifrance. The first production unit of the Hyd’Occ facility is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2025.

Cadeler inks contract for 390 MW offshore wind project in Poland

Cadeler has finalised a contract with Ocean Winds for transporting and installing 26 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines of 14 MW capacity each at the BC-Wind offshore wind farm in the Polish Baltic Sea. The wind farm is situated about 23 km from the Polish coastline, north of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The agreement follows an earlier vessel reservation arrangement made between the two companies in February 2025.

Zelestra and BKW ink agreement for 2 GWh BESS in Italy

Zelestra and BKW have signed a long-term tolling agreement for the delivery of a 2 GW battery energy storage system (BESS) project in northern Italy. As part of the agreement, Zelestra will allocate a share of the plant’s generation capacity to BKW, allowing it to manage and optimise flexibility in the market. Construction for the project is scheduled to begin in 2027, and is expected to become fully operational in 2028.

RWE secures grant for Dutch electrolyser project

The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has awarded a funding of €551 million to RWE for a 100 MW electrolysis project in Eemshaven. The project will be located near the Magnum power station in the northern part of the country. The funding has been provided under the Dutch government’s Sustainable Energy Production and Climate Transition Incentive Scheme.

JERA Nex bp and EnBW get consent for UK offshore wind project

The UK government has approved the Morgan Generation offshore wind farm, located in the Irish Sea. The project will have a generational capacity of 1,500 MW. It was developed by JERA Nex bp and EnBW. Once operational, the project is expected to supply electricity to about 1.5 million households annually. Moreover, the project is reportedly the second offshore wind project from the UK’s Round 4 leasing round to receive consent.

ESB and BnM launch solar project in Ireland

The Electricity Supply Board (ESB) and Bord na Móna (BnM) have launched the Timahoe North solar farm in Co Kildare, Ireland. The project has an installed capacity of 108 MWp and has been fully operational since early 2025. The project has been executed with the involvement of contractors and subcontractors like Voltalia, H&MV Engineering, S&G Solar Ltd., and Wills Bros Group.

Germany auctions 2.27 GW solar projects

Germany’s Federal Network Agency has announced the results of the auction held on 1 July 2025 for ground-mounted solar photovoltaic projects and solar installations on constructions other than buildings or noise barriers. The tendered capacity was 2,266 MW, with the auction being oversubscribed and receiving bids totalling 2,820 MW. Out of a total of 313 bids, 258 were awarded, with a combined capacity of 2,271 MW.
