Ørsted has revealed a strategic collaboration with Mission Clean Energy to develop four independent battery energy storage systems in the Midwest. Mission Clean Energy seeks to utilise Ørsted’s vast operational expertise and resources to make these projects a reality. Ørsted will use its funds to obtain and uphold interconnection queue positions for the four storage projects owned by Mission, as Mission will still be in charge of developing the projects.

KGAL ESPF 5, a renewable energy fund has established a joint venture (JV) with IMCS to collaborate on developing battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Italy. There is growing political backing for the developing energy storage system market, as BESS can help offset the rising variability in renewable energy electricity generation. The plan is to develop four battery energy storage systems, with a total capacity of 1,100 MW. The JV offers the opportunity to build the BESS projects at an early stage and sell them when they are at ready-to-build status.

AYPA Power secures $323 million for energy storage project in Idaho

Aypa Power has got $323 million in financing for its Kuna project. The Kuna project is a 150 MW / 600 MWh facility situated in the City of Kuna just north of Boise. It will be Idaho’s largest battery energy storage project and will be online in mid-2025. The financing package includes a $233 million green loan, which consists of a construction and term loan, a tax equity bridging loan, and a letter of credit facility. Additionally, the project received $90 million in tax equity, bringing the total funding to $323 million.

San Diego Gas & Electric inked 15-year contracts for equal amounts of solar power and energy storage from both the Luna Valley and Daggett Storage 1 projects.

Tesla and Intersect Power have signed a contract to supply   15.3 GWh of Tesla’s Megapack battery energy storage systems for Intersect Power’s solar + storage project portfolio . By the end of 2027, Intersect Power is expected to deploy 10 GWh of large-scale energy storage. Intersect Power plans to use over half of the new Megapacks order for four projects in California and Texas, which are anticipated to be operational by the end of 2027.

Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) has inked a 15-year Long-Term Resource Adequacy Agreement with Pacific Gas & Electric Company for LRE’s 112.5 MW Sierra Pinta Energy Storage project in Yuma County, Arizona. Sierra Pinta is next to LRE’s 179 MW White Wing Ranch Solar project, which is currently under construction. Sierra Pinta Energy Storage project aims to bolster renewable energy deployment and has a storage capacity of 450 MWh.
