TotalEnergies launches new battery storage project in Belgium

TotalEnergies has announced the building of a new battery storage facility in Belgium. The project operations are slated to begin by the end of 2025. The project will be situated at the TotalEnergies depot in Feluy, Belgium, and will have a 75 MWh capacity with a 25 MW power rating. The project announcement comes just a year after we the Antwerp storage project began, which is estimated to be operational by the end of the year.

Prevalon Energy secures contract for BESS project from Idaho Power

Idaho Power has chosen Prevalon Energy, a Mitsubishi Power Americas subsidiary, for a four-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) project with a maximum capacity of 328 MWh in Idaho. The project is planned in accordance with Idaho Power’s plan to include over 5 GW of electricity generated from solar and wind farms over the course of the next 20 years.

India’s NTPC holds auction for firm and dispatchable renewables

India’s NTPC Limited held an auction to develop 3,000 MW firm and dispatchable renewable power (FDRE) from inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected projects. The tender for the project was issued in October 2023. Prior to this, the Solar Energy Corporation of India held a similar auction for 1,500 MW of FDRE in which Rs 5.59 per kWh was the lowest discovered tariff. Last month, NHPC Limited conducted another auction for 1,500 of FDRE in which Rs 4.55 per kWh was the lowest discovered tariff.

Trina Storage to supply BESS for solar farms in the UK

Trina Storage has secured a deal to provide battery energy storage systems (BESS) for four UK sites operated by Low Carbon. The systems will deliver approximately 190 MWh of total storage capacity, enhancing arbitrage and ancillary services capabilities. Each project will be able to provide its rated power output continuously for a duration of two hours.

Alcemi gets permits for 1.5 GW battery projects in Scotland

Alcemi, a developer of battery energy storage systems, has secured planning approval in Scotland for two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects totaling 1.5 GW. Alcemi is implementing the projects as a component of a larger 4 GW energy storage portfolio in the UK. Located in Fife, north of Edinburgh, is the 500 MW and 1,000 MWh Devilla energy storage facility.
