European Energy takes FID on 225 MW agri-PV project in Italy

European Energy has taken the final investment decision (FID) on a 225 MW agri-PV project near Vizzini in Sicily, after securing support under Italy’s FER-X Contract for Difference auction. The project received its authorisation in 2023 and has now progressed following the successful auction outcome, which provides long-term revenue certainty. The project is scheduled to reach commercial operation by the end of 2027.

OMV Petrom, CE Oltenia start construction of 550 MW solar parks in Romania

OMV Petrom and Complexul Energetic Oltenia (CE Oltenia) have commenced construction on their solar parks in Romania, which have a cumulative installed capacity of around 550 MW. TThe development comprises four solar parks that are located in Ișalnița, Tismana, and Rovinari.  OMV Petrom and CE Oltenia are developing the projects as equal partners, each holding a 50 per cent stake. They are scheduled to become operational in 2026.

IFC, AMEA Power, Kyuden join forces for solar-plus-storage project in Egypt

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has announced a partnership with AMEA Power and Kyuden International Corporation of Japan to develop a large-scale solar and battery energy storage system project in Egypt. The collaboration will support the construction of the Abydos II project through Abydos For Renewable Energy. The project will be located in Aswan Governorate in southern Egypt.

ACME Solar secures financing for clean energy projects in India

ACME Solar Holdings has bagged a debt tie-up of Rs 47.2 billion from Indian financial institutions. Out of the total financing, Rs 27.1 billion has been secured from Power Finance Corporation for ACME’s 300 MW firm and dispatchable energy (FDRE) project. Furthermore, Rs 8 billion was secured from the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure Development. The remaining amount of Rs 12.09 billion was secured from Yes Bank.

US installs 11.7 GWdc of Solar Capacity in Q3 2025: Report

The US solar industry installed 11.7 GWdc of capacity in the third quarter of 2025, a 20% increase from Q3 2024 and a 49% increase compared with Q2 2025. The distributed solar segments had a mixed quarter while utility solar saw substantial build out. Residential solar had another quarter over 1 GWdc – despite the industry-wide rush to sell and install projects before the Section 25D tax credit expiration, module availability has constrained project completions. Commercial solar grew year-over-year but declined from Q2 2025, with California’s NEM 2.0-driven pipeline starting to wane. Meanwhile, the community solar segment continued its decline.

Altus Power has completed the acquisition of a 234 MW portfolio of solar generation and storage assets from Greenbacker. The projects span more than 100 locations across 18 states in US. The acquired assets include long-term contracted projects serving a mix of customers, including a global e-commerce and logistics firm, a regional university, and multiple utilities.

Egypt commences construction on ATUM solar manufacturing complex

Egypt has commenced construction of the ATUM Solar integrated industrial complex in Sokhna, with total investments of approximately $210 million. The project is being developed within a 200,000 square metre site at TEDA Egypt, located in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The complex is a joint initiative involving JA Solar from China, AH from Egypt, Global South Utilities from the UAE, and Infinity Capital from Bahrain.

AMEA Power commissions 120 MWp solar project in Tunisia

AMEA Power has commissioned a 120 MWp solar project in the Kairouan Governorate of Tunisia. The project was financed with support from the International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank Group, along with the African Development Bank. It is expected to produce about 222 GWh of electricity annually. Moreover, the project is estimated to reduce carbon emissions by around 117,000 tonnes annually.

ENCAVIS secures financing to acquire 265 MW Italian solar portfolio

ENCAVIS has secured a €200 million non-bridge financing facility to fund the acquisition of the Italian solar portfolio known as Giotto, with a total capacity of 265 MW. The financing will be used to acquire the portfolio from EDP Renewables Italia. Additionally, the financing for the acquisition has been provided by UniCredit on a non-recourse basis. The portfolio comprises five solar parks located in Italy, with three projects situated in Lazio and two in Puglia.

SEG Solar to develop 3 GW manufacturing facility in Indonesia

SEG Solar has announced plans to develop a 3 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in Batang Regency, Indonesia. The project forms phase I of a broader 5 GW expansion plan for ingot and wafer production. The proposed manufacturing facility is expected to involve an investment of about $80 million, fully funded by SEG. Moreover, production at the plant is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026.

Doral Renewables signs PPA for 270 MWac solar project in Kansas 

Doral Renewables has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) for its 270 MWac Lambs Draw solar project located in Decatur County, Kansas. Under the agreement, an unnamed major US-based corporate offtaker will procure the entire electricity output of the project along with the associated renewable energy credits. The transaction was facilitated through LevelTen Energy, acting as the marketplace operator.

ACCIONA Energía sells a wind and solar portfolio in US and Mexico 

ACCIONA Energía has entered into an agreement with Mexico Infrastructure Partners for the sale of a 49 per cent stake in its 1.3 GW solar portfolio in US, along with the complete divestment of two wind projects in Mexico with a combined capacity of 321 MW. The transaction has an equity value of approximately €855 million. As part of the agreement, the company will continue to hold a 51 per cent controlling interest in the US solar assets.

Shizen Energy has reached financial close for a 29.99 MWac utility-scale solar project in Gurun, Kedah, Malaysia under the Corporate Green Power programme. The project company, SM 01 Sdn. Bhd., has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google The project is scheduled to commence commercial operations in 2027. The project will provide Google with energy attributes generated from the solar plant.

US DOE’s Speed to Power: To accelerate large-scale grid projects to support AI

The US DOE, through its Grid Deployment Office, launched the Speed to Power initiative to speed up the development of large-scale power transmission and generation projects, to enable the grid to meet the growing energy demands from AI and manufacturing. The initiative aims to accelerate the development of such projects, starting with a RFI titled, “Accelerating Speed to Power/Winning the AI Race: Federal Action to Rapidly Expand Grid Capacity and Enable Electricity Demand Growth”, to get input into near-term investment opportunities, project readiness, load growth expectations and infrastructure constraints that DOE can address.

Iberdrola begins construction on 366 MW solar projects in Spain

Iberdrola España has started construction of two solar projects in Valencia, Spain, involving an investment of about $252 million. The projects comprise the Ayora 1 and Cofrentes I solar farms, having a combined installed capacity of 366 MW. These projects are expected to strengthen regional energy independence and are scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2026.

INTEC bags EPC contract for 288 MWp solar project in Azerbaijan

INTEC Energy Solutions has secured an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the 288 MWp Shafag (Jabrayil) solar project in Azerbaijan. The contract has been awarded by Shafag (Jabrayil) Solar Limited and covers the complete EPC scope. Additionally, the agreement includes operation and maintenance services for the first two years of the project’s operations. The total contract value is $117 million.

Equinor’s wind-solar hybrid project in Brazil begins operations 

Equinor has commenced commercial operations at its first hybrid project in Brazil, combining 140 MW of solar capacity with 223 MW of wind capacity at the Serra da Babilônia site in Bahia. The solar plant has been developed alongside the existing wind project, Serra da Babilônia Wind, operated by its subsidiary, Rio Energy. The solar plant is expected to produce 236 GWh of renewable energy annually.

Scatec begins operations of 273 MW solar plant in South Africa

Scatec ASA has commenced commercial operations of the 273 MW Grootfontein solar project in South Africa. The project, located in the Western Cape, will supply electricity under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA). It is expected to produce 700 GWh of electricity annually. The project is anticipated to offset around 630,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
