Ecoener secures agreements for 200 MW solar plants in Guatemala 

Ecoener has secured two 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) in Guatemala. These agreements pertain to the development of the 140 MWp Cocales and 60 MWp La Hulera solar plants, with both the projects expected to begin commercial operations in 2028. The Cocales project will comprise a 20 MW/80 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), whereas the La Hulera project will include a 10 MW/40 MWh BESS.

Tunisia floats tender for solar-plus-storage project

The Republic of Tunisia’s Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy has floated a tender for the development of a solar-plus-storage project. It will consist of a 300 MW solar plant with a 150 MW/540 MWh battery energy storage system. Located in Bazma in the governorate of Kebili, it is a part of the country’s national renewable energy development programme. The deadline for bid submission is October 14, 2026.

Germany auctions 3.45 GW onshore wind projects

Germany’s Federal Network Agency has announced the results of the onshore wind auction that closed on August 1, 2025. The tendered capacity was 3,443 MW, with the auction being oversubscribed and receiving bids with a total capacity of 5,739 MW. The total number of bids received was 604 bids, of which 376 bids with a combined capacity of 3,448 MW were awarded.

Netherlands floats a tender for 4 GW offshore wind projects

The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, through Netherlands Enterprise Agency, has initiated a 4 GW offshore wind tender which aims to award two permits in early 2024, dividing them between plot Alpha (2 GW) and plot Beta (2 GW). Future plans involve adding another plot, eventually increasing the total capacity to 6 GW. These designated areas are part of the IJmuiden Ver wind farm zone in the North Sea. The deadline for bid submissions is March 28, 2024.

SECI floats tender for 2 GW wind-solar hybrid projects in India

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued request for proposals for setting up 2,000 MW of inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected wind-solar hybrid projects under tranche VII. The projects will be developed on the basis of build, own, and operate model. According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work under the project includes identification of land, installation, projects ownership.

Ignitis and Ocean Winds bag Lithuania’s 700 MW offshore wind tender

Ignitis Renewables and its strategic partner, Ocean Winds, have been chosen by Lithuania’s National Energy Regulatory Council (NERC) to construct a 700 MW offshore wind farm. Ignitis and Ocean Winds’ project was approved by NERC after it had undergone a legal check for national security considerations. Furthermore, the regulatory board approved the cooperation on a temporary basis in July 2023.

Photosol and Neoen emerge as leading winners in French solar tender

Rubis Photosol and Neoen SA are the leading winners, with allocated capacities of 257 MWp and 221.6 MWp respectively, in the recent tender for ground-mounted solar power plants in France. Repsol Ibereólica Renovables Chile, a partnership between Repsol Chile and Ibereólica Renovables Chile, has received financing for Project Atacama, a greenfield wind farm in northern Chile. ACWA Power, a Saudi energy company, has inked an agreement with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy to develop a 1.5 GW onshore wind project in the Karakalpakstan region. France plans to float 1 GW tender for offshore wind farm

The French government announced plans to launch a tender for an offshore wind farm in state waters for up to 1 GW and claimed to have found a suitable location in the Atlantic, west of France. China floats a tender for 11.25 GW of offshore solar projects in Shandong Province

The Shandong Provincial Energy Administration has issued a request for proposals for the development of ten offshore solar photovoltaic (PV) projects with a total capacity of 11.25 GW. Binzhou, Dongying, Weifang, Yantai, Weihai, Qingdao, and other areas around Shandong’s coast will be developed for the projects. Shell and Eneco to jointly work in Dutch offshore wind tenders

Shell and Eneco have agreed to work jointly on the offshore wind tender process for the Hollandse Kust (west) (HKW) VI and VII lots, which are located off the coast of the Netherlands.  The two companies will submit their bids through their two joint venture firms, Ecowende and SchakelWind. Ecowende will bid for HKW VI, while SchakelWind will submit an offer for HKW VII.

Netherlands to float a massive offshore wind bid

The Netherlands has stated that it will shortly issue a request for proposals for the construction of two new offshore wind farms with a combined capacity of 1400 MW. The North Sea will be the site of the new projects. The Dutch government released laws detailing the procedure in the Government Gazette on March 9, 2022. According to the notification, wind farm lots 6 and 7 will each have a capacity of 700 MW.

BNetzA floats a tender for 1 GW offshore wind farm in North Sea

The German Federal Network Agency, BNetzA, has issued a tender for the development of a 1 GW offshore wind farm in the North Sea. BNetzA has also announced that the bidder with the lowest subsidy required for the North Sea wind farm would be considered for the contract. The maximum value for bids is 6.4 ct per kWh. The bid submission deadline is September 1, 2022, and the project is expected to be finished in 2027.

Meralco floats a tender of 850 MW renewable energy capacity

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has floated a tender to contract 850 MW of renewable energy-producing capacity. The power company is seeking proposals for approximately 600 MW of capacity to start providing power in February 2026, and another 250 MW to commence commercial operations in February 2027, as part of the procurement process.
