Atlantica acquires Statkraft’s Canadian renewable platform

Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure has finalised the acquisition of Statkraft’s renewable energy platform in Canada. The platform consists of 236 MW of operational capacity, along with a development pipeline of around 600 MW spanning renewable and storage projects. The operational portfolio includes a 51 per cent interest in l’Érable, a 100 MW wind project in Quebec operating since 2013, and a 136 MW wind project in Alberta. .

LS Power acquires bp’s US onshore wind portfolio

LS Power has completed the acquisition of bp’s onshore wind operations in US, that is bp Wind Energy North America Inc., adding around 1,300 MW of operating wind capacity across 10 projects to its portfolio. The transaction has met all the required regulatory and closing conditions. Greenberg Traurig, LLP acted as the legal advisor, while Barclays and Santander served as financial advisors to LS Power for the acquisition.

Colombia launches Gecelca Solar for clean energy transition

The Ministry of Mines and Energy of the Colombian government has announced the formation of Gecelca Solar as a new platform to support Colombia’s energy transition. The new entity will begin with an initial solar portfolio of 650 MW, anchored by a 200 MW solar project. The region has reportedly faced persistent challenges related to high electricity costs and limited energy access.

Zelestra sells Latin America renewables platform

Zelestra has signed an agreement to sell its Latin America platform to Promigas S.A. The platform comprises 1,400 MW of contracted solar and battery storage capacity, of which 1,000 MW includes projects that are either operational or under construction. Additionally, the company has a development pipeline of more than 2,100 MW of renewable capacity across 19 projects across Chile, Peru and Colombia.

EDF and partner secure financing for 124 MW wind project in Canada

EDF power solutions Canada and Énergie Renouvelable Granit Inc have announced thatthe Haute-Chaudière wind project in Quebec, Canada has secured non-recourse construction and term financing. The 124 MW project received the funding from a group of lenders that includes National Bank of Canada, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Desjardins Group, KfW IPEX-Bank, and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank.

BrightNight and Cordelio close financing for 200 MW BESS in Washington 

BrightNight along with its joint venture partner Cordelio Power have completed financial close for the Greenwater energy storage project. The 200 MW/800 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project, located in Pierce County, Washington, will supply firm capacity and grid support to Puget Sound Energy. The project has secured this financing of nearly $400 million from a group of banks.

Terra-Gen closes financing for Lockhart III & IV project in California

Terra-Gen, an independent power producer jointly owned by Igneo Infrastructure Partners and Masdar, has completed the project financing arrangements for the Lockhart III & IV solar project in San Bernardino county, California. The commitments for the project amount to $383.3 million, comprising a $236.1 million tax equity bridge loan, a $107.5 million construction and term loan, and $39.7 million in additional unfunded facilities.

RWE has commissioned the Stoneridge solar project in Milam County, Texas. The project, comprising 200 MW of solar capacity along with 100 MW/200 MWh of battery storage, will contribute to strengthening the regional energy supply. First Solar inaugurates new manufacturing facility in Louisiana

First Solar has inaugurated a fully vertically integrated manufacturing plant in Iberia Parish, Louisiana, following an investment of $1.1 billion. The facility spans roughly 2.4 million square feet and began production in July 2025. The plant incorporates AI-enabled production systems, including computer vision and deep learning for defect detection, along with AI-based operational tools for technicians.

CPS Energy launches RfPs for 600 MW solar capacity

CPS Energy has released a request for proposals (RfPs) to procure up to 600 MW of solar capacity through one or more power purchase agreements. The tender is part of the utility’s Vision 2027 generation plan, which focuses on ensuring reliable and affordable supply for the San Antonio region. The RfP submission deadline is January 8, 2026. Following this, the utility expects its solar portfolio to exceed 1,600 MW in capacity.

Cypress Creek closes financing for Hanson solar project in Texas

Cypress Creek Renewables has closed financing and begun construction on the 505 MWdc, or 396 MWac, Hanson solar project in Coleman County, Texas. The solar project will supply power to Meta under a long-term power purchase agreement. Financing was secured through a mix of preferred equity and debt. The preferred equity commitment was provided by funds managed by an unnamed global credit asset manager.

Raven SR gets approval for waste-to-hydrogen facility in California

Raven SR has obtained its final air permit and the authority to construct from the Bay Area Air District (BAAD) for a facility in Richmond, California that will convert diverted organic waste into renewable hydrogen using a non-combustion steam/carbon dioxide reforming process. The project will be located at a Republic Service’s closed West Contra Costa Sanitary landfill site and will process up to 99 wet tonnes of organic waste per day.

Cordelio Power begins operations of 135 MW wind project in Arkansas

Cordelio Power’s 135 MW Crossover wind project in Cross County, Arkansas has commenced commercial operations. The project will deliver all its electricity to Microsoft under a 20-year contract. The project was built by M.A. Mortenson as its engineering, procurement and construction contractor. Wind turbines for the project were supplied by Vestas, who oversee the turbines’ long-term operations and maintenance.

rPlus Energies acquires 900 MW solar-plus-storage projects in Idaho

rPlus Energies has completed the acquisition of two solar-plus-storage projects in Ada County, Idaho. The two projects are the Blacks Creek energy center and the Bluebird solar project, with a cumulative capacity of 900 MW. The  Blacks Creek energy center consists of 400 MW of solar capacity along with 200 MW of storage. The acquisitions add to the company’s existing activities in Ada County.

TotalEnergies and Google ink PPA for solar project in US

TotalEnergies has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google for the supply of 1.5 TWh of renewable electricity from its Montpelier solar farm located in Ohio. The solar project, which is nearing completion, is connected to the PJM grid system. The renewable electricity supplied under this agreement will support Google’s data centre operations in Ohio.

EIB Global and Enel to finance solar projects in Colombia

EIB Global, the international partnerships and development arm of the European Investment Bank, and Enel Colombia S.A., part of the Enel Group, have announced a loan of up to $200 million to finance two solar projects in the Atlántico region in Colombia. The two projects, Guayepo III and Atlántico, have a capacity of 180 MWac each, and are currently under construction.
