Lightsource bp sells Australian solar portfolio to Aula Energy

Lightsource bp has announced the sale of its Australian solar portfolio to Aula Energy. The transaction covers five operational solar projects with a combined capacity of 1,037 MWdc. The assets included in the portfolio are the Wellington, Wellington North, West Wyalong, Woolooga, and Wunghnu projects. The projects are located across New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria.

Enel to acquire 830 MW US renewable portfolio 

Enel S.p.A., through its subsidiaries Enel Green Power North America and EGPNA Project Holdco 2, has signed agreements with Excelsior Energy Capital to acquire a 830 MW renewable energy portfolio in US. The portfolio comprises wind and solar plants with an average annual output of 2.1 TWh. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to certain conditions precedent, including regulatory approvals.

Crédit Agricole finances 385 MWp solar portfolio in France

Crédit Agricole CIB and Crédit Agricole Transitions & Énergies, together with other group banks, have co-arranged a structured financing package worth approximately €400 million for GreenYellow. The funding will support the rollout of a large portfolio of solar projects across France. The financing will enable the development of more than 350 solar plants primarily on parking carports, with a combined installed capacity of around 385 MWp.

Hecate sells 2 GW US solar-plus-storage project to Savion

Hecate Energy Group has completed the sale of its up to 2,000 MW Cereza solar and storage project to Savion. The project is located at the US Department of Energy’s Hanford Site in southeastern Washington and was originally secured by Hecate in 2024. Under the agreement, Savion will take the lead on project development, with continued support from Hecate.

Egypt approves 2.72 GW solar and 2 GWh BESS projects 

The Egyptian Cabinet approved the implementation of four renewable energy projects by Kemet Industries Group, the executive arm of United Egypt Group for National Industries The approved portfolio comprises two solar plants in Bahariya Oasis with capacities of 320 MW and 400 MW. It also includes a 2,000 MWh standalone battery energy storage system in Nagaa Hammadi and a 2,000 MW solar plant in the same location.

Equinix inks solar VPPA for its Japanese data centers

Equinix has entered into a 15-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with ENEOS Renewable Energy Corporation to source renewable electricity from the Sanda Mega solar power plant in Japan.  The project is located in Hyogo Prefecture, with the agreement covering 121 MW of solar capacity. The solar project is expected to support the company’s target of powering its data centres in Japan with 100 per cent renewable energy.

Lydian secures financing for solar and battery storage projects in US

Lydian Energy has secured $689 million in financing for two solar projects, AC Ranch 1 and Yellow Viking, along with the Faraday battery energy storage system (BESS) project. The financing package is backed by CIBC and MUFG. It includes a construction-to-term loan, tax credit bridge loan, co-investment bridge loan, and a letter of credit facility.  The projects are part of Lydian’s portfolio backed by Excelsior Energy Capital.

Lyra Energy inks PPAs for 255 MW solar project in South Africa

Lyra Energy has signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) with three unnamed commercial and industrial customers for a significant share of the power generated from the Thakadu solar project in South Africa. The 255 MW project will be developed in two phases, with financial close and construction of the first phase expected in the first quarter of 2026. The second phase of the project is scheduled within 2026 as well

AES commissions Petersburg Energy Center in Indiana

AES Indiana, a subsidiary of AES Corporation, has commissioned the Petersburg Energy Center in Pike county. The Petersburg Energy Center includes 250 MW of solar capacity installed through over 515,000 solar panels, along with 180 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS). The project will generate enough renewable electricity to power more than 100,000 homes.

Germany awards 2.34 GW solar projects

The Federal Network Agency has announced the results of the auction that closed on December 1, 2025, for ground-mounted solar projects and solar projects on structures that are neither buildings nor noise barriers. The auction was oversubscribed, with 634 bids submitted for a total capacity of 5,247 MW against a tendered volume of 2,328 MW. Out of these, 262 bids amounting to 2,341 MW were awarded.

Grenergy secures financing for Central Oasis in Chile

Grenergy has finalised a $355 million senior non-recourse financing facility for the Gran Teno, Tamango, and Planchón projects, which form part of its Central Oasis complex in Chile. The funding has been arranged through an international banking syndicate led by BNP Paribas as the coordinating bank, along with Banco Santander and Rabobank. The assets together account for 398 MW of solar and 1.4 GWh of battery storage capacity.

BELECTRIC bags contracts for 210 MWp solar projects in UK

BELECTRIC, a member of Elevion Group, has secured agreements in UK to develop four solar projects for Severn Trent Green Power.. BELECTRIC will execute the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of these utility-scale solar farms.  The contracts cover a combined installed capacity of nearly 210 MWp Elevion Group, through BELECTRIC, will act as the delivery partner for the projects.

Greenbacker secures financing for 674 MW solar project in New York

Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company LLC has completed a $440 million tax equity commitment from US Bank and M&T Bank for the 674 MWdc, or 500 MWac, Cider solar project located in Genesee county, New York. The financing represents the final funding component required to fully capitalise the project to bring it online, and will support the utilisation of investment tax credits.

Alight acquires solar with storage projects in Finland 

Alight has acquired two large-scale solar projects in eastern Finland from Finnish developer 3Flash, adding more than 200 MW of planned solar capacity along with an associated battery energy storage system (BESS). The two projects have planned capacities of approximately 75 MW and 150 MW. Alight and 3Flash will jointly advance the projects until they achieve ready-to-build status.

SolarAfrica secures financial close for 114 MW solar project 

SolarAfrica has achieved financial close of R 1.5 billion for the development of SunCentral 2, a 114 MW solar plant in the Northern Cape. The funding has been arranged through RMB and Investec Bank Limited. The project is scheduled to begin supplying power in 2026. SunCentral 2 follows SunCentral 1, which also has a capacity of 114 MW and reached financial close at the end of 2024.

Greenwood Sustainable Infrastructure (GSI), the North American renewable energy subsidiary of Libra Group, has reached financial close on a construction-to-term facility and an investment tax credit bridge financing for its 100 MWac Turning Sun solar project. The financing totals more than $200 million and supports the development, construction, and long-term operation of the project.

ib vogt has completed the sale of a 272 MWp solar portfolio in Ireland for a total enterprise value of approximately €230 million. The portfolio comprises three utility-scale projects: Gaskinstown with a capacity of 94.7 MWp in County Meath, Rathnaskilloge with a capacity of 107.7 MWp in County Waterford, and Clonin North with a capacity of 69.4 MWp in County Offaly. The assets were developed by Highfield Solar, an ib vogt’s joint venture.

GULF secures financing for 939 MW renewable projects in Thailand

Gulf Development Public Company Limited (GULF) has secured loan facilities worth approximately $1.9 billion to support the development of 27 renewable projects in Thailand with a total generation capacity of 939 MW. The financing has been arranged through the company’s renewable energy and waste-to-energy subsidiaries. The portfolio comprises 15 solar and solar-plus-storage projects along with 12 waste-to-energy plants.

UK auctions 4.9 GW solar and 1.3 GW onshore wind projects

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero of UK has announced the results of a clean energy auction, spanning solar, onshore wind, and tidal projects. Around 4.9 GW of solar capacity was awarded across 157 projects, 1.3 GW of onshore wind from 28 projects, and 20.9 MW of tidal capacity from four projects. The tariffs for onshore wind capacity was £72.24 per MWh, while the tariff for solar projects was £65.23 per MWh.

TotalEnergies and Google ink 1 GW solar PPAs in Texas

TotalEnergies has entered into two long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) to supply 1,000 MW of solar capacity to Google for its data centres in Texas over a 15-year period. The agreements cover renewable electricity generation of approximately 28 TWh during the contract term. Power will be sourced from two solar projects, namely the 805 MWp Wichita project and the 195 MWp Mustang Creek project.
