Voltalia commissions 148 MW Bolobedu solar farm in South Africa

Voltalia has fully commissioned the Bolobedu solar farm project which is located in Limpopo province, South Africa. The project has a total installed capacity of 148 MW, and is part of a long-term corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Richards Bay Minerals (RBM). The farm will supply around 300 GWh on an annual basis which is equivalent to the yearly electricity consumption of 425,000 inhabitants.

Qualitas Energy acquires 376 MW solar portfolio in Poland

Qualitas Energy has acquired a portfolio of nine operational solar plants in Poland with a total capacity of 376 MWp. The portfolio generates over 400 GWh annually, supplying electricity to approximately 210,000 households. The assets were purchased from a joint venture between Better Energy Holding A/S and Industriens Pension. The projects were developed and built by Better Energy and became operational between 2021 and 2024.

CFE inks PPAs with CIP for solar-plus-storage projects in Mexico

CFE Calificados, a subsidiary of Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), has signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), in partnership with Sunstone Power, for two solar-plus-storage projects in Campeche, Mexico. The projects include Alegría Solar, comprising 600 MW of solar and 300 MW of storage, and Esperanza Solar, comprising 300 MW of solar with 150 MW of storage.

Levanta Renewables awards EPC contract to CEEC for solar plus BESS project in Philippines

Levanta Renewables has announced the signing of an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract  with the China Energy Engineering Group (CEEC) for the development of the Barotac solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) project in the Visayas, Philippines. The contract covers the full EPC scope for the project, which will integrate 166 MWp of solar capacity with an 80 MWh of BESS capacity.

Heelstone begins construction on 206 MW solar projects in Georgia and Michigan

Heelstone Renewable Energy, a Qualitas Energy company, has commenced construction on two solar projects totaling 206 MW in Georgia and Michigan. The 104 MW Alligator Creek project in Georgia and the 102 MW Murch project in Michigan are both slated for commercial operation by the end of 2026. EPC agreements have been executed with Pure Power Contractors for the Georgia site and Greensol Renewables for the Michigan facility.

AfDB approves $5.65 million grant to support minigrids portfolio across Africa

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has approved a $5.65 million reimbursable grant from the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa to pilot the Peace Renewable Energy Certificate (P-REC) Aggregation Facility. The initiative will use renewable energy certificates as a primary financing mechanism to support a portfolio of mini-grid projects across Africa.

PPC Group completes 2.13 GW solar projects in Greece

PPC Group has completed construction of solar plants having a combined capacity of 2.13 GW in Amyntaio and Ptolemaida in Northern Greece. These plants can generate 3150 GWh of electricity annually, which corresponds to 6 per cent of the country’s annual electricity consumption, catering to approximately 750,000 households. Additionally, the plants will avoid more than 1.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

Zelestra and EDP ink agreement to hybridise solar plant in Spain 

Zelestra and EDP have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) to hybridise an operational solar plant with battery storage. As per the agreement, Zelestra will add a 160 MWh BESS to the 50 MW Pizarroso solar plant in Cáceres. The solar plant has been operational since 2023. EDP, the current offtaker for the solar plant, will use the battery storage to improve energy management and enhance system flexibility.

Dimension Energy secures $650 million for US community solar portfolio 

Dimension Energy has secured $650 million in construction and term financing to support a 132 MW portfolio of 25 community solar projects across Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois. The funding consists of $415 million in debt financing provided by First Citizens Bank, MUFG, ING Capital LLC, and National Bank of Canada. Franklin Park contributed $235 million in tax equity for the project.

TotalEnergies and Masdar form onshore renewables JV in Asia

TotalEnergies and Masdar have signed a $2.2 billion 50/50 JV agreement to merge their onshore renewable activities in Asia. The JV will manage 3 GW of operational assets and 6 GW under advanced development that are expected to commence operation by 2030. The JV will be the sole platform for developing, building, owning and operating onshore solar, wind and battery storage projects.

Germany awards 3.5 GW of onshore wind and solar capacity

The Federal Network Agency of Germany has released the results of the tenders for onshore wind turbines and solar installations on buildings and noise barriers that closed on February 1, 2026. For onshore wind turbines, a total capacity of 3,445 MW was tendered, attracting 924 bids with a combined capacity of 7,858 MW. Of these, 439 bids amounting to 3,445 MW were awarded contracts, while 24 bids were excluded from the award process.

Ecoener secures agreements for 200 MW solar plants in Guatemala 

Ecoener has secured two 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) in Guatemala. These agreements pertain to the development of the 140 MWp Cocales and 60 MWp La Hulera solar plants, with both the projects expected to begin commercial operations in 2028. The Cocales project will comprise a 20 MW/80 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), whereas the La Hulera project will include a 10 MW/40 MWh BESS.

UK government to make plug-in solar available within months

The UK government has introduced rules to step up the drive for clean homegrown power to get the country off dependency on fossil fuel markets in response to the Iran war. The rules aim to ensure the majority of new homes in England will come with solar panels fitted as standard. The move will enable households to save money on bills through plug-in solar panels as the government vows to go further and faster on clean energy in response to conflict in the Middle East. The current conflict is a reminder for the country to end dependence on fossil fuel markets and accelerate the drive for clean, homegrown power, as well as new renewables and nuclear.

Linea Energy has secured project financing for its Watertown solar project, a 172 MWdc utility-scale facility located in Sanilac County, Michigan. The financing package comprises a construction-to-term loan, a tax equity bridge loan and a letter of credit facility. It is led by Santander Corporate & Investment Banking, with participation from Société Générale, Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale and Truist Bank.

McDonald’s and Axpo sign solar PPA in Spain

Axpo and McDonald’s have entered into a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the supply of up to 83 GWh of solar energy annually. The electricity will be sourced from Axpo’s newly developed solar complex located in the municipalities of Villadangos del Páramo and Cimanes del Tejar, in the northwestern province of León. It is a 200 MWp facility consisting of four photovoltaic plants, each with a capacity of 50 MWp.

Cleantech Solar to develop rooftop solar project for Coats Group in Indonesia

Cleantech Solar has entered into a second long-term agreement with Coats Group plc for a rooftop solar project in Indonesia. As per the agreement, Cleantech Solar will develop and operate a rooftop solar project at Coats Rejo Indonesia’s facility in Pasuruan, East Java. Once operational, the combined project will allow Coats to replace 17.3 per cent of its total electricity consumption with renewable energy.

Zelestra commissions Belinchón solar cluster in Spain

Zelestra has commissioned three solar plants, Belinchón I, II and III, in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, with a combined capacity of 162 MW. The projects are located in Cuenca and were completed within 14 months by the company’s EPC team. Additionally, the operational plants are expected to avoid more than 42,700 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. A total of 275,000 solar modules have been installed across the three plants.
