Etem Gestamp and Rezolv Energy ink cross-border VPPA in Bulgaria

Etem Gestamp and Rezolv Energy have entered into a 10-year cross border virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) in Bulgaria. Under this arrangement, Etem Gestamp will procure electricity from Rezolv Energy’s 461 MW VIFOR wind farm, located in Buzău County, Romania, which is nearing commissioning. The agreement represents Rezolv Energy’s seventh PPA across Romania and Bulgaria.

EC approves €5 billion Danish aid scheme for offshore wind energy 

The European Commission (EC) has approved a Danish state aid scheme valued at approximately €5 billion to support offshore wind energy development. The scheme, notified under the Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework adopted in June 2025, will run for 20 years. It will support the construction and operation of two offshore wind farms, Hesselø and North Sea I Mid.

Equinor acquires 230 MW wind project from Vestas in Brazil

Equinor, through its subsidiary Rio Energy, has acquired the Esquina do Vento wind project from Vestas. The 230 MW project is located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte in northeast Brazil. Additionally, Equinor has entered into a wind turbine supply agreement with Vestas for the same project. As per the supply agreement, Vestas will supply 51 V163-4.5 MW turbines, with installation scheduled to commence in March 2027.

Western Australia signs agreements to procure power from wind projects 

The Western Australia Government has agreed to purchase power from upcoming wind farms in regional Western Australia. Through a series of long-term power purchase agreements, Synergy will procure renewable energy from the 470 MW Parron Maam Marang Wind Farm, being developed by Zephyr Energy, and the 130 MW Kondinin Wind Farm, a joint venture between Shell Energy and Foresight Group.

Egypt signs renewable energy agreements package  

Egypt has formalised a series of renewable agreements covering wind, solar, and battery energy storage system projects. These include plans to establish standalone battery energy storage systems with a total capacity of 5,620 MW. One of the agreements grants land usufruct rights for the 900 MW Shokeir wind project in Ras Shokeir. Furthermore, multiple other PPAs have been signed for several renewable projects across the country.

Cloudberry acquires stake in 132 MW Finnish wind farm 

Cloudberry Clean Energy ASA has signed a share purchase agreement (SPA) with Sampi Renewables Holding AS to acquire a 50 per cent stake in the 132 MW MLK onshore wind farm in Finland. The project has been operational since 2022 and generates approximately 378 GWh annually, with 189 GWh attributable to Cloudberry. The transaction is structured through the acquisition of a Norwegian holding company that owns half of the wind farm.

Manitoba Hydro issues RFP for 600 MW wind projects in Canada

Manitoba Hydro has issued a request for proposals (RFP) under the Wind Call for Power initiative. The programme seeks to procure power from 600 MW of wind projects in Manitoba, Canada. Each wind project selected under the initiative must be majority owned by one or more Indigenous Nations in Manitoba. The bidding process has commenced and is scheduled to close during summer 2026.

Qair secures consent for 1 GW floating offshore wind project in UK

Qair has obtained planning consent from the Highland Council for the onshore infrastructure associated with the Ayre offshore wind farm in UK. The project is located to the east of Orkney and is proposed as a 1,000 MW floating offshore wind development. It will deploy floating turbine technology to utilise wind in deeper waters. Subject to securing the remaining approvals, construction is anticipated to commence around 2030.

IFC finances Olavarría wind and transmission project in Argentina

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has announced financing support for Petroquímica Comodoro Rivadavia S.A. for the development and construction of the Olavarría wind farm in the Buenos Aires province of Argentina. The total project cost is reported at $275 million. It involves the installation of 29 wind turbines supplied by Vestas, with a total installed capacity of 185.6 MW.

274 MW Madawaska wind project in Canada begins construction

The 274 MW Madawaska wind project in Quebec has reached financial close, enabling the start of construction. The project is being developed by EDF power solutions Canada, Alliance de l’énergie de l’Est, and Société de gestion éolienne de la Madawaska Inc. Financing has been arranged through a consortium comprising Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, National Bank of Canada, Desjardins Group, and KfW IPEX-Bank.

J-POWER begins operations of 220 MW offshore wind farm in Japan

Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-POWER) has announced the commencement of commercial operations at the Kitakyushu Hibikinada offshore wind farm in Japan. The project is located in the Hibikinada sea off the coast of Wakamatsu-ku in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka. The total installed capacity of the project is 220 MW, of which 88 MW is owned by J-POWER. The wind farm comprises 25 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 9,600 kW.

1.65 GW offshore wind projects secure grid agreements in Philippines

A partnership comprising Seawind Asia AG, Stream Invest Holdings AG, and Triconti ECC Renewables has secured first grid connection agreements for offshore wind projects totalling 1,650 MW in the Philippines. The agreements were granted by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines and cover three projects: the 450 MW Frontera Bay project and the 600 MW Guimaras Strait and 600 MW Guimaras Strait II projects.

Enel to acquire 830 MW US renewable portfolio 

Enel S.p.A., through its subsidiaries Enel Green Power North America and EGPNA Project Holdco 2, has signed agreements with Excelsior Energy Capital to acquire a 830 MW renewable energy portfolio in US. The portfolio comprises wind and solar plants with an average annual output of 2.1 TWh. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to certain conditions precedent, including regulatory approvals.

The 185.6 MW Forêt Domaniale wind farm has received government authorisation for construction. It will be located across forested areas within the municipalities of Cap-Saint-Ignace, Montmagny, Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire, and Sainte-Apolline-de-Patton in the Montmagny regional county municipality. The development is being undertaken through an equal partnership between EDF solutions électriques and Alliance de l’énergie de l’Est.

Eiffage bags contracts for Spanish onshore wind projects 

Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Energía Sistemas, has been awarded two infrastructure contracts in Spain by Capital Energy for onshore wind projects in the Castile and León region. The combined value of the contracts is over €80 million. The projects involve developing electrical infrastructure for wind farms with a total installed capacity of 270 MW. The projects are scheduled to be completed in 2027.

UK auctions 4.9 GW solar and 1.3 GW onshore wind projects

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero of UK has announced the results of a clean energy auction, spanning solar, onshore wind, and tidal projects. Around 4.9 GW of solar capacity was awarded across 157 projects, 1.3 GW of onshore wind from 28 projects, and 20.9 MW of tidal capacity from four projects. The tariffs for onshore wind capacity was £72.24 per MWh, while the tariff for solar projects was £65.23 per MWh.

India announces results of 1.2 GW wind auction 

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has announced the winners of its 1,200 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS) connected wind power projects (Tranche-XIX) auction. In the auction, KP Energy secured a capacity of 100 MW at a tariff of Rs 3.67 per kWh. Furthermore, Waaree Forever Energies, Ganeko Three Energy, and Opera Energy secured 300 MW, 180 MW, and 50 MW, respectively, at a tariff of Rs 3.68 per kWh.

CIP to acquire Ørsted’s European onshore renewable portfolio

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, through its fifth flagship fund Copenhagen Infrastructure V (CI V), has reached an agreement to acquire Ørsted’s European onshore renewable energy business. The transaction covers more than 800 MW of renewable capacity, consisting of 578 MW operational and 248 MW under construction project, along with a multi-GW development pipeline.
