CIP to acquire Ørsted’s European onshore renewable portfolio

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, through its fifth flagship fund Copenhagen Infrastructure V (CI V), has reached an agreement to acquire Ørsted’s European onshore renewable energy business. Sonoco and ENGIE ink VPPA for 140 MW wind project in Texas

Sonoco Products Company and ENGIE North America have commenced electricity delivery under a virtual power purchase agreement (VPP) linked to the Big Sampson wind project in Crockett county, Texas. The agreement covers an estimated 140 MW of electricity annually for a 15-year term starting from the project’s commercial operation.The project was completed in late 2025 and consists of 60 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 4.5 MW.

Envision bags wind turbine supply order in Vietnam

Envision Energy has entered into a wind turbine supply agreement with REE Group for nearshore wind projects with a combined capacity of 128 MW in Vietnam’s Vinh Long province. The portfolio includes the V1-3 Phase II project with 48 MW capacity and the V1-5 and V1-6 Phase II projects totaling 80 MW. The projects will deploy 16 EN-226/8.X MW offshore wind turbines.

Thor offshore wind farm receives electricity production licence 

The Danish Energy Agency has granted a 30-year electricity production licence to the Thor offshore wind farm. The project has an installed capacity of 1.1 GW, with construction activities for the project progressing as scheduled. Once fully operational in 2027, the wind farm is projected to generate enough renewable electricity to meet the annual demand equivalent of approximately one million Danish households.

Horizon Capital finances 124 MW wind project in Ukraine

Horizon Capital has completed the initial closing of its reconstruction-focused Horizon Capital Catalyst Fund and announced the financing of supporting Notus Energy’s 124 MW wind power project in Ukraine’s Odesa region. The Catalyst Fund has reportedly reached more than half of its target size at initial closing, securing about €152 million against a target of around €300 million.

OX2 completes construction of 455.4 MW wind farm in Finland

OX2 has completed and transferred the ownership of the 455.4 MW Lestijärvi wind farm in Finland to a consortium comprising Kymppivoima, Oulun Energia, and Kuopion Energia. Construction of the project was carried out by OX2, which consists of 69 wind turbines and represents an investment of €650 million. OX2 will continue to manage the wind farm’s technical and financial operations.

JERA Nex bp acquires stake in Mona offshore wind project in UK

JERA Nex bp has agreed to acquire EnBW’s stake in the Mona offshore wind farm and has entered into a lease agreement with The Crown Estate for the project. This development allows the the project to progress toward the next stages of development. Once operational, the project will have a capacity of 1,500 MW, supplying renewable electricity capacity to the UK grid. The wind farm is moving closer to a final investment decision.

Iberdrola secures loan for 274 MW wind projects in Portugal

The European Investment Bank has extended a green loan of about €175 million to Iberdrola to support construction and operation of two new onshore wind farms in northern Portugal. The project covers a combined installed capacity of 274 MW and is designed to be integrated with Iberdrola’s existing Támega pumped storage hydropower complex. The financing is backed by a guarantee from Cesce.

Blue Elephant Energy acquires 381 MW wind portfolio in Germany

Blue Elephant Energy has acquired an onshore wind energy portfolio with a total nominal capacity of 381 MW in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The portfolio, purchased from WIND-projekt, includes 37 operational wind farms with a cumulative installed capacity of 260 MW. Additionally, it includes four under construction wind farms totalling 46 MW, and three more wind farms totalling 75 MW will be transferred at the start of construction.

Nordex bags 224 MW wind turbine supply order in Germany

The Nordex Group has received wind turbine supply orders totaling 224.4 MW from UKA (Umweltgerechte Kraftanlagen GmbH & Co. KG) for wind projects located in Germany. The orders were placed under an existing framework agreement between Nordex Group and UKA and cover the supply of 33 N175/6.X wind turbines. The contracts also include a premium service arrangement for the maintenance of the turbines for a period of 20 years.

Voltalia begins construction of hybrid project in Uzbekistan

Voltalia has commenced construction of the Artemisya hybrid energy cluster in Uzbekistan, covering battery storage and the first phase of wind capacity. The initial phase includes a 100 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage system project and a 100 MW wind project. The entire Artemisya cluster is planned to comprise 126 MW of solar capacity, 300 MW of wind capacity, and 100 MW/200 MWh of battery storage.

Synera Renewable Energy Group (SRE) has reported that the entire 495 MW capacity of its Formosa 4 offshore wind project has been fully contracted through corporate power purchase agreements (CPPAs). The project reached full subscription following an initial CPPA signed with Taiwan Smart Electricity & Energy in December 2025, along with two additional CPPAs concluded subsequently in the same month.

The Madawaska wind project has received government authorisation, enabling the continuation of final permitting and approval processes. Vestas has secured a 390 MW offshore wind turbine supply order for the Shinan-Ui offshore wind project located in Jeollanam Province, South Korea. The project is being developed by a consortium comprising Hanwha Ocean, SK Eternix, Korea Midland Power Co. EBRD finances 250 MW wind project in Türkiye

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has provided financing of about $200 million to Enerjisa Enerji Üretim A.Ş. to support the addition of 250 MW of new wind projects in Muğla, Türkiye. The 250 MW wind projects form a part of the broader 1,000 MW wind project portfolio being implemented by Enerjisa Enerji Üretim across the country. The projects are expected to produce around 630 GWh of electricity annually.

ENGIE fully commissions 846 MW wind project in Brazil 

ENGIE has achieved full commercial operations at the Serra do Assuruá wind complex in Gentio do Ouro, Bahia, in northeastern Brazil. The project has an installed capacity of 846 MW, consisting of 188 wind turbines spread across 24 wind farms and is supported by 28 km of transmission lines that connect the facility to Brazil’s main electricity grid. The project supplies renewable electricity to the free energy market.

RWE sells 350 MW Polish offshore wind project to PGE

RWE has entered into an agreement with PGE for the sale of the F.E.W. Baltic II offshore wind project in the Polish Baltic Sea. The project has a planned installed capacity of 350 MW and is located around 50 km off the coast, north of Ustka. The transaction is expected to reach financial close in the first quarter of 2026. As part of the arrangement, RWE has completed the transfer of the documentation for the neighbouring offshore wind site.

OX2 begins construction 277 MW wind projects in Finland

OX2 has commenced construction of three onshore wind projects in Finland following a final investment decision, covering a cumulative capacity of 277 MW. The Kannisto wind farm is located in Central Ostrobothnia, and the Korkeamaa wind farm and Salo-Ylikoski wind farm are located in Southern Ostrobothnia. Collectively, the three wind farms are expected to generate approximately 860 GWh of electricity annually.

India’s wind sector regains momentum, but challenges persist

As per the National Institute of Wind Energy estimates, India has immense wind energy potential – about 695.5 GW at 120 metres above the ground level. As of October 31, 2025, India’s installed wind power capacity stands at 53.59 GW. The wind sector is entering a phase of meaningful but measured progress. Momentum is building through hybrids, RTC demand and a strong manufacturing base, yet execution bottlenecks, slow contracting and offshore uncertainties must be resolved for the country to stay on course toward its ambitious 2030 wind capacity target.
