Equinor’s wind-solar hybrid project in Brazil begins operations 

Equinor has commenced commercial operations at its first hybrid project in Brazil, combining 140 MW of solar capacity with 223 MW of wind capacity at the Serra da Babilônia site in Bahia. The solar plant has been developed alongside the existing wind project, Serra da Babilônia Wind, operated by its subsidiary, Rio Energy. The solar plant is expected to produce 236 GWh of renewable energy annually.

LS Power acquires bp’s US onshore wind portfolio

LS Power has completed the acquisition of bp’s onshore wind operations in US, that is bp Wind Energy North America Inc., adding around 1,300 MW of operating wind capacity across 10 projects to its portfolio. The transaction has met all the required regulatory and closing conditions. Greenberg Traurig, LLP acted as the legal advisor, while Barclays and Santander served as financial advisors to LS Power for the acquisition.

EDF and partner secure financing for 124 MW wind project in Canada

EDF power solutions Canada and Énergie Renouvelable Granit Inc have announced thatthe Haute-Chaudière wind project in Quebec, Canada has secured non-recourse construction and term financing. The 124 MW project received the funding from a group of lenders that includes National Bank of Canada, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Desjardins Group, KfW IPEX-Bank, and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank.

Italy auctions 7.4 GW solar and 940 MW wind projects 

Italy’s energy management agency has released the results for wind and solar projects under the FER-X Transitory decree. A total of around 940 MW has been allocated to 29 wind projects, with a weighted average award price of €72.851 per MWh. Additionally, approximately 7,700 MW has been awarded to 474 solar projects, with a weighted average award price of €6.825 per MWh.

Azerbaijan inks agreement for 600 MW offshore wind project

The Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and Clean Energy Capital LLC, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Green Energy Company LLC, have entered into an implementation agreement for an offshore wind project. The agreement covers the evaluation, planning, and execution of an offshore wind project in the Caspian Sea. The initial phase of the project will have a capacity of 200 MW, with the total planned capacity of the project being 600 MW.

OX2 acquires 235 MW wind projects in Romania

OX2 has acquired three onshore wind projects in Romania from Future Power. These three projects, with a cumulative capacity of 235 MW, are located in Vaslui and Vrancea counties. All are expected to be commissioned between 2028 and 2030, subject to the permitting progress. With this acquisition, OX2’s portfolio in the country now exceeds 1.1 GW, covering nine onshore wind projects.

Philippines launches 3.3 GW offshore wind auction

The Department of Energy (DOE) of the Government of the Philippines has issued the Notice of Auction and the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the fifth round of the Green Energy Auction (GEA-5). The auction marks the country’s first competitive process dedicated exclusively to fixed-bottom offshore wind projects. The round offers 3,300 MW to be delivered between 2028 and 2030.

Denmark floats tenders for 2.8 GW offshore wind projects

The Danish Energy Agency has launched tenders for three offshore wind farms with a combined minimum capacity of 2.8 GW. The three projects are North Sea Mid, Hesselø in the Kattegat, and North Sea South. The projects will be offered under a two-sided capability-based contract for difference that secures a fixed electricity price for developers and reduces the risk of low tariffs.

Cordelio Power begins operations of 135 MW wind project in Arkansas

Cordelio Power’s 135 MW Crossover wind project in Cross County, Arkansas has commenced commercial operations. The project will deliver all its electricity to Microsoft under a 20-year contract. The project was built by M.A. Mortenson as its engineering, procurement and construction contractor. Wind turbines for the project were supplied by Vestas, who oversee the turbines’ long-term operations and maintenance.

South Korea floats tender for 230 MW onshore wind projects

South Korea has issued a competitive bidding call for onshore wind projects totalling around 230 MW for the second half of 2025. The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment announced that applications will be accepted through the Korea Energy Agency’s Renewable Energy Center. Bidding will remain open from November 17, 2025 to December 29, 2025, allowing 30 working days for submissions.

Nama PWP, Sembcorp ink PPA for Dhofar II wind project in Oman

Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (Nama PWP) has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Sembcorp Utilities and OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE) to develop the 125 MW Dhofar II Wind Power Project in the Sultanate of Oman. The joint venture between Sembcorp and OQAE will build, own, and operate the project, which will supply electricity to Nama PWP once completed.

186 MW Pahkakoski wind farm begins operations in Finland

Ilmatar has commenced commercial operations at the Pahkakoski wind farm located in Ii, Northern Ostrobothnia. The project comprises 30 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 186 MW. The turbines installed at Pahkakoski reach a tip height of 245 metres. Construction of the wind farm began in late 2023. The project undertook the transport, crane, and installation contracting model.

EIB and Iberdrola ink green loan for 315 MW offshore wind farm 

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a €500 million green loan with Iberdrola for the development of the Windanker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea. The project will have an offshore wind capacity of 315 MW. Construction began with the installation of the first monopile earlier in November 2025, with turbine installation scheduled for 2026, and full commissioning expected by the fourth quarter of 2026.

Ignitis Group secures financing for 314 MW wind farm in Lithuania

Ignitis Group has secured €318 million in project financing from a consortium of institutional and commercial lenders to fund the 314 MW Kelmė onshore wind farm in western Lithuania. The financing includes €100 million loan from European Investment Bank, €98.5 million loan from Swedbank, €79.5 million loan from European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and €40 million loan from Nordic Investment Bank.

Onshore Grid Competition in UK: Ofgem publishes decision on commercial framework

In July 2025, the UK’s energy regulator, Ofgem, published its final decision and updated policy position on the onshore electricity transmission early competition commercial framework. The latter will apply to CATOs, which will finance, build, operate and maintain assets on the electricity transmission network. The framework is being implemented in line with the Energy Act, 2023, and associated secondary legislation, which created the statutory basis for CATOs. The approach complements the government’s Clean Power 2030 Action Plan, recognising the critical role of timely transmission build-out for integrating renewable generation.

Neoen inaugurates 412 MW wind farm in Australia

Neoen has inaugurated 412 MW Goyder South wind farm in South Australia. The project, located near Burra in South Australia’s Mid North region on the lands of the Ngadjuri Nation, was constructed in two stages with a total of 75 turbines. The wind farm supplies energy under three long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs). It is expected to produce approximately 1.5 TWh of electricity annually.

Romania launches third CfD auction for onshore wind

Romania’s Ministry of Energy, in coordination with the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme operator C.N.T.E.E. Transelectrica S.A., has launched the third auction under the State Aid scheme in the form of CfD for electricity generation from onshore wind and solar photovoltaic sources. Around 290 MW of onshore wind capacity has been tendered as a part of this CfD auction. The deadline for bid submission is November 14, 2025.

EDF inks CPPA for 440 MW offshore wind project in Taiwan

EDF Power Solutions has signed a 30-year corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Taiwan Smart Electricity & Energy Co. Ltd. (TSEE) for the Wei Lan Hai Changhua offshore wind project (WLHC). EDF Power Solutions is the majority shareholder in the WLHC project, which was awarded in 2022 and has a total installed capacity of 440 MW. TSEE is the newly established government-backed electricity aggregator in Taiwan.

GE Vernova to supply turbines for wind project in Romania

GE Vernova has signed an agreement with Greenvolt International Power to supply, install, and commission wind turbines for the 252 MW Ialomiţa wind farm in Romania. As per the agreement, GE Vernova will supply 42 onshore wind turbines rated at 6.1 MW each. The agreement was finalised in the third quarter of 2025, with turbine deliveries expected to commence in 2026.
