 EC approves €6 billion Italian aid scheme for renewable hydrogen 

The European Commission (EC) has approved a €6 billion Italian scheme to support renewable hydrogen production for transport and industry. The hydrogen can be produced both from renewable electricity through electrolysis and from biogenic sources through biological, bio-thermochemical or thermochemical processes. The aid will be provided through two-way contracts for difference.

Etem Gestamp and Rezolv Energy ink cross-border VPPA in Bulgaria

Etem Gestamp and Rezolv Energy have entered into a 10-year cross border virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) in Bulgaria. Under this arrangement, Etem Gestamp will procure electricity from Rezolv Energy’s 461 MW VIFOR wind farm, located in Buzău County, Romania, which is nearing commissioning. The agreement represents Rezolv Energy’s seventh PPA across Romania and Bulgaria.

McDonald’s and Axpo sign solar PPA in Spain

Axpo and McDonald’s have entered into a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the supply of up to 83 GWh of solar energy annually. The electricity will be sourced from Axpo’s newly developed solar complex located in the municipalities of Villadangos del Páramo and Cimanes del Tejar, in the northwestern province of León. It is a 200 MWp facility consisting of four photovoltaic plants, each with a capacity of 50 MWp.

WBS Power to develop 3.2 GW renewable-powered data centre in Poland

WBS Power S.A. is developing a hyperscale data centre campus with a planned capacity of 3.2 GW in Lublewo, located in the Choczewo municipality in Poland’s Pomerania region. The project, named Baltic Data Center Campus, has secured grid connection conditions for the entire capacity. The campus is planned to be executed in four phases, each with a capacity of 800 MW.

Zelestra commissions Belinchón solar cluster in Spain

Zelestra has commissioned three solar plants, Belinchón I, II and III, in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, with a combined capacity of 162 MW. The projects are located in Cuenca and were completed within 14 months by the company’s EPC team. Additionally, the operational plants are expected to avoid more than 42,700 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. A total of 275,000 solar modules have been installed across the three plants.

GOLDBECK SOLAR to develop 722 MWp solar projects in Poland

GOLDBECK SOLAR Polska has signed a contract to develop the Sidłowo-Kikowo-Dobrowo solar plants in Poland, with a total installed capacity of 722 MWp. The projects will be located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship and will be connected to the state grid. The project comprises three solar plants, including Sidłowo with 290 MWp, Kikowo with 235 MWp, and Dobrowo with 197 MWp.

The project involves the development and operation of nearly 200 solar plants with a combined capacity of 290 MWp, along with 350 MW of battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Cloudberry acquires stake in 132 MW Finnish wind farm 

Cloudberry Clean Energy ASA has signed a share purchase agreement (SPA) with Sampi Renewables Holding AS to acquire a 50 per cent stake in the 132 MW MLK onshore wind farm in Finland. The project has been operational since 2022 and generates approximately 378 GWh annually, with 189 GWh attributable to Cloudberry. The transaction is structured through the acquisition of a Norwegian holding company that owns half of the wind farm.

Qair secures consent for 1 GW floating offshore wind project in UK

Qair has obtained planning consent from the Highland Council for the onshore infrastructure associated with the Ayre offshore wind farm in UK. The project is located to the east of Orkney and is proposed as a 1,000 MW floating offshore wind development. It will deploy floating turbine technology to utilise wind in deeper waters. Subject to securing the remaining approvals, construction is anticipated to commence around 2030.

Grenergy secures contracts for 760 MWh BESS in UK

Grenergy has secured capacity contracts for four battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in UK with a combined capacity of 190 MW/760 MWh. The contracts were awarded in the latest auction conducted by NESO, the country’s energy system operator, and will remain in effect for 15 years. The projects include two hybrid projects and two standalone BESS projects, namely Scalm Park, Spring Lane, Buxton Road, and Fibden Farm.

Trafigura reaches FID for green hydrogen project in Wales

Trafigura has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, MorGen Energy, has taken the final investment decision (FID) to begin construction of a 20 MW green hydrogen production facility in Milford Haven, Wales. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with commissioning expected by early 2028. It is expected to produce approximately 2,000 tonnes of low-carbon hydrogen annually.

EC approves €150 million Romanian energy storage scheme

The European Commission (EC) has approved a €150 million Romanian state aid scheme to support electricity storage deployment, in line with the Clean Industrial Deal. The scheme will support the installation of at least 2,174 MWh of new electricity storage capacity in Romania. Additionally, the support will be provided as investment aid in the form of direct grants for the development of new standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS).

RGREEN INVEST and Renalfa join forces to develop renewable projects across Europe

RGREEN INVEST, through its INFRAGREEN equity funds, and Renalfa Solarpro Group have entered into an agreement to establish a joint venture (JV) named Renalfa Power Clusters (RPC). The partners have jointly committed €200 million in equity to the JV. The JV company will finance the development and construction of a renewable energy portfolio valued at approximately €800 million.

TotalEnergies divests 789 MW German BESS portfolio

TotalEnergies has signed an agreement with Allianz Global Investors to sell a 50 per cent stake in a portfolio of 11 battery energy storage system (BESS) projects currently under construction in Germany. The portfolio has a total capacity of 789 MW/1,628 MWh, and represents a combined investment of approximately €500 million. The completion of the transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.

Revera closes financing for Windyhill BESS in UK 

Revera Energy has achieved financial close and issued a notice to proceed for the Windyhill battery energy storage system (BESS) in UK. The project has a capacity of 200 MW/400 MWh and is located in Bearsden, around 10 km north-west of Glasgow in Scotland. Construction is set to begin immediately, with commercial operations expected in the first quarter of 2028.

OX2 to invest in Finnish energy storage

OX2 has taken a final investment decision to develop energy storage projects with a combined capacity of 235 MW/470 MWh, in Finland. The projects will be co-located with the Kannisto and Korkeamaa wind power projects, both of which reached investment decisions in December 2025. Construction is scheduled to begin immediately, with commissioning expected in 2028.

Crédit Agricole finances 385 MWp solar portfolio in France

Crédit Agricole CIB and Crédit Agricole Transitions & Énergies, together with other group banks, have co-arranged a structured financing package worth approximately €400 million for GreenYellow. The funding will support the rollout of a large portfolio of solar projects across France. The financing will enable the development of more than 350 solar plants primarily on parking carports, with a combined installed capacity of around 385 MWp.

EIB funds three solar projects in Romania

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has committed approximately €34 million to support the construction and operation of three solar projects in southwestern Romania. The projects will have a combined capacity of 190 MW and are expected to generate enough electricity to supply more than 160,000 households. They will be located in the Olt and Dolj counties in the Oltenia region, near the Danube river and the Bulgarian border.

Eiffage bags contracts for Spanish onshore wind projects 

Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Energía Sistemas, has been awarded two infrastructure contracts in Spain by Capital Energy for onshore wind projects in the Castile and León region. The combined value of the contracts is over €80 million. The projects involve developing electrical infrastructure for wind farms with a total installed capacity of 270 MW. The projects are scheduled to be completed in 2027.
